Rainforest Walk (Amamoor State Forest)
6 Aug, 2022
Easy
1.2km return
30 mins
Camped at Cedar Creek for a couple of days and this was an easy introduction to the various walks in the area. With the recent floods parts had been washed out making the river crossing difficult.
Macadamia Walk (Amamoor State Forest)
6 Aug, 2022
Easy
1.2km return
30 mins
An easy starter for ‘four’, as there are a number of interesting walks that start from the Amama Day Use area.
Laurel Bank Park (Toowoomba)
26 Jul, 2022
Very Easy
900m return
30 mins
Sometimes when you are stuck in town, you just have to get out and have a look around and see what you can find. A sign says ‘park’ so follow it.
Donnelly’s Castle (Darling Downs South West)
25 Jul, 2022
Easy
800m return
45 mins
This was fun after a hearty lunch at the Stanthorpe Cheese Factory climbing to the lookout and then investigating the various routes through the ‘caves’ below.
Broadwater Loop (Darling Downs South West)
25 Jul, 2022
Medium
5.7km return
105 mins
I had no idea where I was going on this walk, just had to work it out for myself as there was no signage. I lost count of the number of creek crossings and there is no easy way to cross other than to get your feet wet or use whatever materials were available to get to the other side. What fun and a welcome beer at the Retreat Brewery on my return.
Mt Mackenzie Lookout (New South Wales)
24 Jul, 2022
Easy
600m return
30 mins
This was more about the view from the lookout than the walk to the trig.
Thunderbolts Cave (New South Wales)
24 Jul, 2022
Easy
600m return
30 mins
Interesting. Just makes you wonder how he ever found the cave in the first place given its location. Can only assume the locals indigenous people told him about it.
Skywalk Lookout (Dorrigo National Park)
23 Jul, 2022
Very Easy
200m return
15 mins
It was cold and wet the day we were there and a coffee and a warming fire were very welcome. The clouds were down and there were no views to be seen from the end of the Skywalk.
Dangar Falls (New South Wales)
23 Jul, 2022
Easy
1.1km return
30 mins
This is little hidden gem of a waterfall and swimming pool, off the beaten track and no signposting. Think the Dorrigo locals keep it to themselves!
Ebor Falls (Guy Fawkes River National Park)
23 Jul, 2022
Easy
3.1km return
1 hr
Edgars Lookout (Oxley Wild Rivers National Park)
23 Jul, 2022
Very Easy
50m return
15 mins
Not really a bushwalk, but an awesome view of Chandler River Gorge.
Wollomombi Walk to Chandler Falls Lookout (Oxley Wild Rivers National Park)
23 Jul, 2022
Easy
4.1km return
90 mins
The views of the gorges and falls are awe inspiring and you just have to get to the next lookout as they get better and better.
Chandler Walk To Viewpoint (Oxley Wild Rivers National Park)
23 Jul, 2022
Medium
3.2km return
90 mins
A little harder than the other walks in the area, but with three viewing areas, each with a difference angle on the gorges and falls it is well worth it.
Capricorn Caves (Mount Etna Caves National Park)
30 Jun, 2022
Easy
1.5km return
1 hr
Twin Falls Circuit (Springbrook National Park)
25 Jun, 2022
Medium
4.6km return
90 mins
Middle of winter, freezing cold and this place was packed. No parking available at Purling Brook so did Twin Falls as the next best option and it was well worth it, with the various waterfalls that you walk behind, rock pool picnic area, rock clefts to walk through and lush rainforest as you walk along the bottom of the 80m cliff face.
Best Of All Lookout (Springbrook National Park)
25 Jun, 2022
Very Easy
700m return
30 mins
This really was a short walk, but the view from the lookout out across to Mount Warning was fantastic.
Royal Botanic Gardens (Melbourne City Walks)
10 Jun, 2022
Easy
4.6km return
90 mins
Never thought of my walk around the Botanic Gardens as a ‘bushwalk’, but on returning from Melbourne discovered that a contributor had just posted this for the first time. Could it have been we were both there on the same day? No not quite.
There is always a wealth of information around these places on the various tree species that help identification when out in the wilds.
Littoralis Trail (Mooloolah River National Park)
8 Feb, 2022
Easy
2.7km return
1 hr
I don’t usually comment on subsequent walk visits, but in this case, there was a purpose to the revisit. In late 2021 this area was devastated by a bush fire that took out 300ha. I wanted to see the devastation and also to see how it was recovering.
The primarily lowland wetland habitat was destroyed, but nature is a wonderful thing and the grasses, ferns and ground level plants are back, but as yet no evidence of tree and scrub growth.
Emerald Woods (Sunshine Coast)
6 Feb, 2022
Very Easy
1.8km return
45 mins
Never really regarded this as a ‘bushwalk’, but as it all but walking distance from home, thought I should check it out after someone recently posted it. And what a surprise. In the hearty of suburbia is this small enclave of wetland magic. Towering tree and palms of all descriptions as well as dense ground level foliage.
Tamborine Rainforest Skywalk (South East Queensland)
22 Jan, 2022
Easy
1.5km return
