Login/signup to tick this walk off.The Rainbow Falls is a single-drop (27m) waterfall located on the Kerikeri River near Kerikeri. Unlike most New Zealand waterfalls which are created by the erosion of soft rock, the Rainbow Falls are sited on a hard basalt layer of rock beside softer mudstone.

From Kerikeri township, head northeast on the Twin Coast Discovery Highway, then turn left into Waipapa Road. Rainbow Falls Road is on the left off Waipapa Road where access to the falls is from the parking area at the end of the road.
Walk down the track from the car park and turn right along the pathway to the falls lookout platform and further along to the weir.
Return by the same route.
None.
Walking down the track from the car park and turning left you can join the Kerikeri River Track taking you on a 3.5 km (1.5hr) walk to the Kerikeri Basin where Kerikeri's old buildings are sited, the Stone Store, Mission House and St James Church, plus Rewa’s Village and historic Kororipo Pa. The track follows the north bank of the River and passes through kiwi habitat and regenerating native trees such as stands of young kauri and totara.
