After climbing the Pyramids at Girraween NP last year we were aiming for climbing Bald Rock as we were back in the Granite Belt area. We followed advise from Trip Advisor contributors and climbed the steep part first; then we did the Summit and after that the bush walk down. It was so enjoyable! And funny enough; it was easier than the Pyramids while I had expected it to be the other way around. We are 64 and 69 years old and if we can do it anyone can do it! I've got fibro-myalgia but keep pushing myself so I can still enjoy life. I'll pay the price afterwards. :-)
Getting there: Drive a back road from Stanthorpe (New England Highway). It's much shorter than going through Tenterfield first. Coming from the South you drive through Tenterfield and follow th signs.
Use normal maps and very good maps from the Information Centres.
We started with the steep climb of Bald Rock, then moved on to the Summit and came back following the lovely bushwalk. It's not as difficult as the Pyramids at Girraween NP close by. The Summit gives amazing views.
Surprised that we had to pay $8 permit for a day. I guess we're spoiled in QLD where I have nver had to pay for entrance to a national park.
Just Google 'Bald Rock Climb' to find good information. Trip Advisor also has good reviews: https://www.tripadvisor.com.au/Attraction_Review-g504269-d2211222-Reviews-Bald_Rock_National_Park-Tenterfield_New_South_Wales.html
