Gibson Steps and Gibson Steps Beach (Victoria)

Easy

The walk down the stairs was easier than expected but the sand is quite soft making walking hard work. Never the less Gog and Magog are very very impressive up close.

I thought this waterfall looked better than the pictures. It's a bit out of the way, but it's really nice and the walk is good too. Loved the pine trees.

It was a bit tough on the way back up, but such a great walk. Our second really nice waterfall for the day.

Third awesome waterfall for the day. I found it tough walk back up, but it isn't that far, so not too bad really. If you're in the area, don't miss walking through the Californian Redwoods another 1.3km down Binns Road. While they're not that old they're still really impressive.

This is a fantastic walk. There were a couple of tour buses there when we arrived so it must be a really popular place. We would have loved to go at night, but it gets dark at the moment around 9:30pm so we decided that wasn't happening.

It was pretty hot today so it was a bit of a tough walk. It would be nice when cooler. There isn't a lot of water in the falls at the moment.
Lower Kalimna Falls (Victoria)

This waterfall very much reminded us of Buderim Falls in QLD without all the people. It was really hot today, so maybe that's why no-one else was there, but it is a really nice waterfall, and a nice track to get to it.

This was a great start to the Great Ocean Road for us. The views are spectacular.

Tough walk today. We decided to do this walk to avoid the 36 degree heat today. But it was close to high tide and the wind was strong. So on the way there we walked against the wind in soft sand and walked back wading through water. Never the less it’s always a beautiful walk - particularly around dusk.

Nice easy walk but not flat. You walk down to the lookout and then you walk back up. Most of the walk is sealed though before you reach stairs and then the bridge. Great views.
Wentworth Pass (New South Wales)

Totally awesome walk. This is the second time we’ve walked this track and live it. Last time we did it clockwise starting at Wentworth Falls car park. This time we started at the same car park but headed towards the conservation hut along the shortcut track and then down into the valley from there. We thought this was a better option because the track up towards the conservation hut is very long and gruelling. The track up from the bottom of Wentworth falls is steeper but involves steps and ladders. It doesn’t take nearly as long. This track does take in part of the National Pass, but this part is open. The National Pass is incredible and this section of it definitely won’t disappoint.

It’s a good little walk to do if your here just to say you’ve done it. The steps down are part of the giant staircase.

We’ve walked this track twice as part of the Wentworth Pass track - once each way. It’s a really tough walk back up because it seems to go forever. Seeing the waterfalls is so worth it though. Really awesome.
Thylogale Track (Jollys Lookout)

Nice easy walk. It’s pretty flat. On another note I have to say that it’s really dry in the area. We’ve been up there many times and I’ve never seen so many trees with dead leaves.

We hadn’t planned to do this walk today but the ghureela track is closed. It’s a really pretty walk but it’s pretty hilly. Gives a good workout. It is very well signed. We were confused at first though because we stopped at the wrong car park. We missed the first part that ran along beside the road and started at the wider trail which went straight ahead.
Bulcock Beach to Moffat Beach (Sunshine Coast)

Enjoyable walk. We started south of Bulcock Beach and walked to Moffat Beach and back. The first half of the walk was relatively busy and flat. The second half was quieter but hilly.

That was a great walk and we’re surprised it’s not better known because it’s really good though quite challenging. There’s lots of variety too. We work the alternative route back rather than back-tracking and it took three and a half hours. Along the way we met the man who posted in April about falling over the side. We saw him at the end of the track where it meets the trachyte track and can confirm that he has conquered the walk. He’s done well!
Ernest Junction Tunnel (South East Queensland)

We had an interesting walk here. Once you get down a little there are dirt bike tracks everywhere so we got a little confused. We decided to take the most obvious paths by going straight ahead and heading down hill. We made it to a place where we had to choose between going left or right. We asked a bike rider where the tunnel was and he told us we were heading on the right direction. As long as we kept going that way we’d walk into it. When we got there it was about 1.5km. However right near the tunnel is a track that went straight up to to road - 300m. The tunnel is great and definitely worth a look. At the other end there are information boards on the railway line.

A hot walk on a really cold day. The ground is loose and sandy in places, particularly near the sand pumping station. You wouldn’t get a wheel chair through there. We took a walk into the Jetty at the sand pumping pipeline. There’s a cost of $2.20 for that. We also picked up a coffee at the kiosk near the road and walked out on the rock wall at the mouth of the river before walking back.
