Governors Chair Lookout

Main Range National Park

Magnificent views out over the Fassifern Valley.

Take a seat in the large rock at the edge which was popular resting spot for early governors on their journeys over the range at Spicers Gap.

Be careful as it is a sheer cliff edge.

Completed this walk on a day trip taking in a few easy walks. there isn’t much information when you do this walk and the signs that are there are faded and not able to be read to it does feel like a bit of a waste of time but hopefully there will be some restoration in the future.

It was described as the ''Incomparable Panorama on a sign post, my colleagues and i laughed as we recalled the 360 degree birds eye view from the Mount Barney summit, surely we did have a worthy adversary to compare with. Steadily trudging along, after a lengthy Mathieson Trail adventure, we stopped and our breath was stolen from our lungs. A draping landscape of blue and green, windswept trees and tall grasses stared back at us as we behld their magnificence. What a sight!
Brisbane can be seen in a far off distance to the north east and all the wonderful mountains of the scenic rim along with it to the east and south.

Not really a walk, but a good view.

Did this as a side trail off the Mt Mathieson Loop Trail. Views are spectacular and well worth some time to just sit and take it all in.

Stunning views from the Governors Chair spot. Road is badly washed away in spots with recent rains. A lot of bird & animal life to see. Worth the approximately 7 klms of gravel road but take it slowly.

Fantastic views that make the drive up there very worth while.

Absolutely stunning views! Most pituresque place I've ever had lunch. Well worth it for the views alone, added bonus of the rich history on the plaques.

This is an AMAZING view towards Mt Fraser to Mt Barney. Access is via a long dirt road so I don't recommend attempting in the rain, a very stressful drive for my little Tiida.

Don't do this walk on a rainy day, all I could see was white (clouds).
