I have done parts of this walk before, and today did the whole walk. Lots of washouts from the recent rain and lots of puddles to jump and/or bush bash around. There was only one other group of people out walking and we only saw each other at the car park on returning. Very relaxing walk.
Pyros Loop (White Rock - Spring Mountain Conservation Estate)

Interesting walk that gives you a good cardio workout. There are a few good vantage points for views on the walk, but can be hard to to find so you need to be scanning for them. Lots of bird life. Some parts of the walk are exposed, so not advisable on a hot day.
Mt. Mathieson Circuit (Main Range National Park)

Third time for this walk. I walked it 12 months ago, and noted the fires and drought had taken a heavy toll on the bush. It was nice to see the regeneration that has happened in the last 12 months. Very enjoyable walk.

Nice to see the greenery after the recent rains as the park was looking very dry.
Spring Mountain (North) (White Rock - Spring Mountain Conservation Estate)

Very enjoyable walk with lots of birds, cicadas and butterflies everywhere. Also left very early in the morning to avoid the heat, and had heavy cloud cover that kept the temps down. We must have taken a different route to the one described here as my GPS clocked the walk at 14.3 K's and it took us 3 and half hours.

Completed the walk in 90 minutes and enjoyed the peace and quiet as there were very few people out on the walk for a change.

Lovely relaxing walk (except for the mosquitoes). Plentiful bird life and lots of little frogs in parts. We really dawdled and took our time to take in the area and did the complete walk in 2 hours.
Sandy Creek Central Ridge Track (Ipswich - Flinders Goolman Conservation Estate)

A long walk that has quite a few sections that are very exposed. Ideally not a summer walk unless there is heavy cloud cover, or you start very early as we did. We arrived at 5.30 and set off at 5.45. Enjoyed the walk and had some very different views of Mt Blaine, Flinders Peak and the never seen before Mt Elliot. Lots of bird life and butterflies. Also spotted a few wallabies.

Lovely stroll very early in the morning before the heat. Lots of Kangaroos and birds. Track is easy to follow.

Forecast for storms today so decided to do a couple of local short walks. Wild life out in force with Wallabies, Lace Monitor lizard, King parrot and thousands of butterflies. Enjoyable stroll.

Did this walk after the other walk in this area. Butterflies everywhere. Great views from the lookout.
White Rock Ridge Hike (White Rock - Spring Mountain Conservation Estate)

Hit the trail early at 6.00, and completed the walk in just under 90 mins. We did this early to avoid the heat, which we did. It was just starting to heat up when we finished the walk. We took the multi use trail going out and went up around the back of White Rock . This makes the walk about 1 klm longer than sign posted. Enjoyable and convenient for us to do.

Decided to do this walk again to see the wild flowers. We did this walk a few years ago at the same time of the year and the wild flowers were amazing. The floral display this year was not as prolific as then, but still there and still beautiful.

Left early to do this walk to avoid the heat later in the day. Very different from other times I have done this walk due to the loss of trees from fires and drought. That said, it was still an enjoyable walk. the wild flowers were everywhere, but not as profuse as previous years. The walk was capped off by finding a King Orchid on a rock in full bloom near the top of the mountain (see photo).

I did this walk about 10 years ago. It was heart breaking to see the trees and bush that had died due to drought and fire since my last walk here. The bush is very dry and badly needs rain. That said, it was still an enjoyable walk. I walked the walk counter clockwise finishing at the Governors chair and then follow the road back to the day park area. The views from the Chair are spectacular.

Did this as a side trail off the Mt Mathieson Loop Trail. Views are spectacular and well worth some time to just sit and take it all in.

Another side trip off the Mt Mathieson Loop Trail. If you get close to the well and stand perfectly still, you will be joined by honey eaters, finches and wrens to name a few. Quite enchanting to just sit and hear and watch.

Started and finished the Mt Mathieson Loop Trail here. The history about the settlers graves is interesting. The plaques on the monument are badly weathered and it is very hard to read what is on them.

We decided to do the loop walk and take in both of the lookouts. The views from the lookout make it well worth while climbing up to them. There is a lot of prickly pear, cactus and lantana throughout the reserve. Wear good ankle supporting shoes and take care on the rock climbs. These climbs would be very slippery in the rain. At the completion of the walk we had covered 4.8K, and enjoyed the walk.

The hardest part of this walk is finding a parking spot. Once found, it is a lovely casual walk along a short trail. Signage was reasonable and it did get a little smelly near the end, but not too bad.
