The Box Forest Track leaves the Picnic Rock track 2.7 km from the entrance and is a most rewarding circuit walk. The track winds down through stands of Brush Box and Piccabeen Palms, to the lush sub-tropical rainforest along Canungra Creek. Pepper Vines cling to tall trees that often support spectacular tree gardens.

Turn right at the next track junction. During wet times, you will have to wade through the water when crossing above Wajinya Falls. The track continues near the top of the falls on the other side. Darragumai Falls and Picnic Rock are considered good lunch spots. Don't miss Box Log and Elabana Falls on the way home.

Beautiful track, just very very cold in the morning. The creek that the track follows is just stunning, and the falls are beautiful.

Great walk. Nothing more to be said. Elabana falls is the big drawcard.

Started from O'Reilly's Retreat on Main Border Track. Beautiful waterfalls and streams. Went on Friday morning and saw almost no one else. Trail is well signed, and was damp and a little chilly.

Very good circuit walk with beautiful waterfalls. Not too long and easy track to walk.

Murray Thomson on 7 Apr, 2016

Great walk, it was quite wet under foot in some sections and a few trees over the track. Took about 4 hours. Don't miss the waterfalls.

Beautiful walk with incredible rainforests, waterfalls, and wildlife. Elabana falls is a beautiful spot but there are also lots of other different falls along the track that are great to see. Some of the big old growth trees are amazing.

Apparently plenty of snakes but I only saw Land Mullet and water dragons plus a lot of birds. And if you keep your eyes out you will see some lamington crayfish.

Would recommend doing this walk early or during the week as it can get quite busy. It is great to families and kids out walking but if I am being selfish it can disturb the ambience.

Great mid-range walk, some awesome waterfalls and plenty of wildlife! Take a picnic and take your time as there are a lot of nice spots to sit and appreciate the solitude as you follow the creek through this circuit.

Lovely day for a walk. Plenty of people on the tracks. Waterfalls are well worth the walk :)

Awesome track

Lovely walk, lots of waterfalls,it had been raining a fair bit in the days before we went so the track was very slippery but still worth risk.

Love this walk. Waterfalls and cascades running nicely despite lack of rain. Saw at least 5 Lamington Blue Crays.

Fantastic walk, and saw not one but FIVE rare Albert's Lyrebirds! :)

Little_Meow on 20 Jan, 2014

A great spot to see Albert Lyre birds. Only other place I have seen one is the Ships stern walk.

Great walk with surprising amount of water given the lack of rain. Early start is a good idea just to avoid traffic on the narrow roads during the drive.

pavi82 on 13 Jan, 2013

Still ok amount of water at Elebana Falls with no rain for months.

bronwenz on 3 Nov, 2012

Nice walk for a hot day. Awesome massive tree. Bit of fun driving up on the one lane roads, recommend getting there early to avoid on-coming traffic.

SoulSolutions on 3 Nov, 2012

Great walk, worth doing, if not just to see the amazing 1500 yo Brush Box trees..

Anthony & Stephanie on 6 Oct, 2012

an excellent walk - not difficult but it is advisable to go anti clockwise to avoid a steep uphill ascent Also short enough to get up there by 11 and have a decent walk and a cup of coffee at the end. The big treat was seeing a male Paradise Rifle bird just before Picnic rock .

DaveKIng on 11 Aug, 2012

This is a shorter version of the Taloona creek circuit and has many waterfalls including the picture postcard Elabana Falls.
