Take a self-guided walk through the remnants of heritage-listed Fort Bribie. See gun emplacements, mine control huts, army field camp foundations and searchlight buildings. Signs along the walk give an insight into Fort Bribie and the men and women who served here from 1941 to 1945. Track markers on the beach help to locate the walk's access points.
Bring mosquito repellent the bugs here are notoriously plentiful.
Fort Lytton is a fortress located on the southern banks of the Brisbane River, Fort Lytton National Park is the perfect place to discover a unique part of Brisbane’s past.

Access to Lower Beechmont Conservation Area from Freemans Rd, Lower Beechmont. Panoramic view out over the Gold Coast, north to Mt Tamborine and west to Canungra.
A short circuit walk in Freshwater National Park where many xanthorrhoea (grass trees) are on display.
Within the Brisbane City area there are a number of nature reserves that provide opportunities for the hiker who doesn't want to drive for hours to get out of the city. One of the most interesting is the Gold Creek Reservoir located next to the suburb of Upper Brookfield.
Berrinba Wetlands is a must for nature lovers. Explore these serene and picturesque wetlands along more than eight kilometers of shared walking and bicycle tracks. This track loops around the wetland.

There are various walking trails and guided tours offered at Redlands IndigiScapes Centre. Most areas are wheelchair friendly. You can have a picnic or BBQ in the vast grounds or enjoy a meal at our Tea Garden, set on an open verandah overlooking the bushland.
8.5 km walk around the Samford Conservation Park; undulating trails with some hills
A shared bike way along the Schulz Canal into a wetland area with plenty of bird life.
