Went here after work one day with my wife, it was so relaxing to just walk in the creek and spend some quality time away from the coast.
A mostly offtrack walk navigating a picturesque creek, The Stern, The Mast and The Funnel.
The hike from Narcissus Hut to Cynthia Bay along Lake St Clair (also referred to the Lakeside Walk) is the last – or first! – section of the Overland Track, and also makes a pleasant day walk. It's not the most interesting walk you can do, but does traverse long sections of temperate rainforest.
The western end of the Island is a marine wildlife haven! New Zealand fur seals can be seen from the viewing platform at Cathedral Rocks and the West End boardwalk is a great place to spot dolphins, and the seasonal migration of humpback whales! The loop circumnavigates the entire West End, guiding you along some of the most remote trail on the Island. The views from the south coast span back to the mainland and all the way to Garden Island. Along the north coast you will encounter bays that may well become your new favourite Rottnest bay! You will not be disappointed.
A panoramic view of Lake St Clair, Mt Olympus, Mt Byron and Mt Hugel from the top of a rocky peak. A lesser-walked track but one that combines great views with some alpine lakes and rainforest areas.
The third highest peak in Western Australia and the highest in the Stirling Ranges located 4.5hrs South East of Perth. The range is very prominent rising high above the predominately flat terrain. The walk itself is very well marked and attracts a lot of tourists of varying ages and fitness levels. Most people of reasonable fitness can climb it in under 2hrs with lots of time to rest and enjoy the view. At the top you are greeted with a panoramic view of the National Park, Stirling Ranges and beyond.
Glen Rock State Forest is situated at the head of Tenthill Valley and adjoins the World Heritage-listed Main Range National Park.
Bishop and Clerk is a popular day walk on Maria Island, and is one of Tasmania’s “Top 60 Great Short Walks”. Please see the official guidebook for route description
Great views from the rocky summit.
Frenchs Farm, one of two campgrounds near the middle of Maria Island, is reached either by taking the Coast Road (via Painted Cliffs) or Inland Track. The Coast Road is the easier (and more scenic) option which follows the coastline, past a number of bays and beaches. The campground is huge with many shaded and private campsite. Water is normally availabe from a water tank.
A very long day walk (or bike ride) from Darlington, or easily accessible from Frenchs Farm / Encampment Cove campgrounds. A fairly easy walk to a beautiful bay, which was a whaling site in the 1800s and is home to fairy penguins.
