At 4,344ft Mt Tomanivi is Fiji's highest mountain and is located on the Central Northern part of the island between Nadi and Suva. The mountain is frequently engulfed in clouds and storms making it muddy and slippery almost year round. That being said there is a well marked track to the summit with a nice clearing at the top that offers a 360 degree view on clear days.

I worked for the Australian Antarctic Division in 2009/10 and undertook this walk whilst transiting through the US base, McMurdo Station, on route to Casey Station. We were not given permission to do the full loop and walked half way and returned. I just wanted to share although I know that it is not accessible to everyone.

From McMurdo Station walk along road to Scott Base and then out onto the sea-ice and return to McMurdo Station. Once again, just sharing this walk that I did whilst working in Antarctica. I know that it is not accessible to everyone.

Great walk through the forest, ending with a very steep climb up to the lake. Beautiful scenary, lots of birdlife and incredible to see both Mount Olivia & Cinco Hermanos so close. The waterfalls on the way up (Cascada Velo de la Novia Ushauia) are not to miss!
I estimate that it would take about another 2 hours return to Cerro Cloche (which is the South), and would be a very easy walk as you are already at a similar altitude.

Probably the most popular hike in Ushuaia. Easy and beautiful. Remember to bring a jacket as it is significantly colder here than in Ushuaia

Coire Gabhail is a hidden valley where the MacDonalds of Glen Coe hid their rustled cattle with a very rough track to some beautiful and dramatic scenery.
