Very pretty walk. Encountered many trail runners, possibly due to the imminence of the Blackall 100. Falls were running well.

Lovely hills and views. Made it a loop by descending from the second peak. It’s pretty steep and more like a goat track than a pathway. I kept losing and refinding the track until eventually I was just lost and bush bashing down the with a gully/creek to my right. Thankfully the fire trail at the base eventually appeared!

Returned along Soldier Settler’s track. 10? km loop. Four hours of ambling. Not “hard”, I would describe the Yul Yan Man section as moderate, as nothing is steep and exposed. It’s just slow going at times.

Not as hard as the signage might suggest, just a constant slog uphill to get your heart rate up. Safe even when wettish. The view from a little track down to the right on the summit is nice.

Unrelenting but rewarding. Glad I wore suitable footwear and glad the temperature wasn’t hot. The red dog was in attendance and was quite vocal!

Good walk, nice to be able to take my dog. Easy to visit both lookouts. Interesting to see masses of Hoya australis in the wild. Found a couple of plants new to me - Cassinia subtropica and Smilax glyciphylla. |
