I completed the entire track + the honey eater lookout trail in one day in 30 degree heat. It took me about 8 hours. The final uphill section can be quite gruelling after hiking for 6 hours straight. Thankfully there are a lot of watertanks on the way for filling up water bottles, just remember to purify the water before drinking it. The lookouts, particularly honey eater lookout was quite scenic Beware of the snakes and spiders. On the journey I ran into 7 snakes , although mostly harmless beware and stay alert. Also beware of the massive spiders that have set up webs in the middle of the path. They are quite intimidating and could cause some damage. Overall good hike that doesn't really need 3 days to be completed. |

Bit of a boring walk, scenery doesn't change and waterfalls are not as impressive as those in other parts of SEQ. Made the mistake of attempting to complete the hike in 2 days. As I didn't have a 4WD, had to start from Charlie Moreland Day Use Area and take the Mount Allen track. This added more kms to the hike than planned. Finished day 1 at 6:30pm (Charlie Moreland to Tallowood) Day 2, we were rescued by a woman who offered to drive us the rest of the way. If we didn't take offer would have hiked about ~35km in a day and finished at about 8pm. At Tallowood, mauled by possums who wanted our food. Be weary of them. Conclusions: don't attempt to complete this hike in 2 days if you are starting from Charlie Moreland. Might be okay if starting from the official beginning point. |

Carpark was fully packed out, had to park a few kms up the road, but luckily there is a bushwalking track that connects the secondary carpark to the main one (Box Forest Trail). This adds an additional 5km of hiking to the overall return distance.

A very unloved track, bit rough around the edges with a number of creek crossings, but stuning waterfall.
