Mt Barney East peak south east ridge (Mt Barney Summit)
18 Sep, 2019
9km return
8 hrs
Climbed SE Ridge many times over the past five years, also soloed. This is by far my favourite track in SE Qld.
Mt. Barney - Short Leaning Ridge (Mt Barney National Park)
Sep, 2017
Very Hard
10km one-way
6 hrs
Turned around just prior to the top of Leaning Peak. Found the initial navigation to get onto the ridge difficult, but once on the ridge had no problems. Found the correct route via the waterfall on descent.
Mt Barney via Logans Ridge and return via Gorge (Mt Barney Summit)
20 Sep, 2016
Very Hard
15km return
9 hrs
Went up Logan's Ridge and down via SE Ridge. Challenging climb, and the track can be hard to follow in some parts. Take a rope for back up. 5 hours up, 2 back down SE Ridge. The creek is running and makes a great spot for a dip on the way back to Yellow Pinch.
Mt Barney - East Peak - Up South-East - Down South (Mt Barney Summit)
26 Sep, 2015
Very Hard
13km return
9 hrs
Very enjoyable and quite challenging in parts climbing Barney SE Ridge. Route generally easy to follow with the occasional reference to the track in OpenMaps. About 3 and a half hours up and 2 and a half down. In cloud from about 1000m so no views, but that's not why you climb mountains anyway right?
Mt Maroon (Mt Barney National Park)
29 Aug, 2015
6km return
5 hrs
Easier to navigate than I expected as some clever soul has marked trees with red tape. A reasonably strenuous climb with steep sections. About an hour and a half up and an hour down.
Daves Creek Circuit (Binna Burra)
1 Mar, 2015
12km return
4 hrs
Completed this circuit in 4 hours with my 8 year old son. Lots of mud after the recent rain, but fantastic views from Numinbah Lookout and the top of Surprise Rock.
Mount Edwards (Moogerah Peaks National Park)
21 Jun, 2014
6.5km return
3 hrs
A delayed start due to car trouble meant that my 8 year old son and I didn't get to start the walk until 2pm. We made it about 3/4 of the way up before time and the little man's legs called us to an early finish. We're both keen to go back again earlier like we had originally planned and take our time to finish it.
The rocky outcrop about a third of the way up is an amazing place for a rest.
