Very enjoyable! I honestly thought this would be harder, with all the scary signs and people warning me. I am heavily obese but even so, it took me 4 hours all up. The chimney section was easier than I thought it would be. Lots of places for my shortass arms and legs to reach! The hardest part was probably getting to the chimney! Just a solid, uphill slog! The small downhill bit just before the ‘no waiting zone’ broke my heart a little bit for how hard I worked to gain that elevation! I did lose the track for about 10 minutes at the top of the chimney, I scrambled up the small rock formation as the path veered left, but you’re not meant to do that. There’s a few paths which look well worn in that section, but if you stick to the widest looking one, it’ll take you past a flattish section and up the path to the south, to the summit. Here’s a breakdown of how long each bit took me: -10 minutes from the car park to the start of the steep bit. -40 minutes to the first orange marker (50 mins total) -30 minutes to bottom of chimney (1h20m total) -25 minutes to top of chimney (1h45m total) -10 minutes to get on the right track (1h55m total) -25 minutes to summit (2h20m total) -15 minutes rest and enjoying the view (2h35m total) -2hours25minutes back to carpark (4hours total) I passed a couple on the way down who thought they were near the top when they were not even halfway to the chimney. There’s a sign that says ‘no waiting zone ahead’ at the point where it STARTS to get steep, nowhere near the actual ‘no waiting zone’. Do not be fooled! There was decent shade for most of the walk, but I did start at 5am. Couldn’t imagine doing it any later due to the heat! Views along the way up, to the north looking over the cliffs were awesome. Views at the top, looking down on clouds, seeing the massive peaks of Mount Barney to the south, also very awesome! There’s lots of interesting trees and plants at the top, and I saw so so many different birds. A few paddymelons, and lots of skinks. I used the Terra map app, as recommended by my camping host which was brilliant! And my grippy Merrill boots were amazing, especially for the boulders at the top. |

She’s steep! I wouldn’t say scrambling is required, but the ropes are certainly helpful to stop slipping on scree and leaf litter on the way down. You want good knees for this one and you’ll need to watch where you put your feet. Lots of roots basically like stairs. Parts of the path are narrow, but it is well trodden and at no point did I feel like I was in danger of getting lost. Some helpful ‘pedestrian’ signs at the trail entrance. I don’t think I would have found it if it weren’t for these yellow traffic signs. |

Did this as an overnighter, making the small detour to the top of mount allen on the way. 4 hours to the camp, 3 hours to get back to the car, as an unfit, overweight person carrying a 15kg backpack. The track there has no creek crossings, but lots of variety- rainforest, subtropical, grassy gum tree fields. Lots of little pools to dip in at summer creek when you get there. And the swim at Booloumba when you’re done is absolutely divine! |

I was expecting it to be a perfectly flat walk, but there is a bit of a hill in the middle. Easy enough though. Spotted plenty of blue tongues and countless birds. Almost stepped on a snake. I imagine all the moss and mushrooms would look stunning after a bit of rain. Plenty of rainforest sections. |

A very short and easy walk in the forest. A nice way to break up a long drive if you're on your way through. | ||||
