Passage Peak and Escape Beach (Queensland)

13.9km one-way
Nice early morning walk during a conference on Hamilton Island. Great spot to catch the sunrise (bring a torch)!
Piles Creek Loop (New South Wales)
7 Feb, 2018
Medium
7km return
Great circular walk, only 45min or so north of Sydney. Nice swimming hole at the end (athough it's just off the track).

Figure 8 Pool (New South Wales)
13 Dec, 2017
Medium
6.5km return
2 hrs
Walked past here many times doing the Bundeena to Otford Coastal Walk... finally managed to make the trip to Figure 8 Pool. Smaller than I expected but beautiful. Avoid weekends and public holidays, as it can get VERY busy!

Bouddi Coastal Walk (New South Wales)
9 Nov, 2017
Medium
8km one-way
3.5 hrs
One of the best walks around Sydney... spectacular views of the coast and great swimming beaches. There are some variations you can do to avoid "back tracking" if you are doing this as a return walk.

Thornleigh to Hornsby (GNW) (New South Wales)

Medium

Did Thornleigh to Berowra as a day-walk:

Fishpond is nice but was very busy when I was there. You can still walk through the closed section behind the rifle range which is the way I went - it's disappointing they chose to re-route the walks via public roads. There's been no change in the rifle range, just a more conservative approach to risk management.
Bairne Track to The Basin Circuit (New South Wales)
25 Mar, 2017
Medium
11km return
3.5 hrs
Not a bad hike, but the walk up from the Basin is very dreary. Resolute Circuit is much nicer. Note: there are a couple of routes down from the Bairne Track. The easiest way is from Soldiers Point lookout, where there is a steep but fairly obvious track down to the water.

Cape Hauy (Tasmania)
14 Jan, 2017
Medium
10km
4 hrs
Cape Huay is almost impressive as Cape Pillar - and a lot easier to get to (from Fortescue Bay). I visited as part of a longer "Three Capes in One Day" walk.

Three Capes (Tasmania)
14 Jan, 2017
Hard
41km return
1 days
A long but very scenic day trip - the tracks are generally VERY good and it's easy walking. Would have been a bit boring doing this over 4 days.

Mt Dromedary (Gulaga) (New South Wales)
5 Jan, 2017
14.5km return
3 hrs
Pleasant and shaded walk on an old 4WD track; the last section is steep as it goes through rainforest to the summit. No views from the top.

Mt Warning Summit trail (Mt Warning National Park)
19 Apr, 2016
Hard
8.8km
5 hrs
Did this walk twice; once starting very early to see the sunrise, and a couple of years later with my 8-year old son during the day. Nice views from the top, albeit nothing particularly amazing. The last scramble up the rocks using a chain is fun.
