Did this in reverse by starting at the lookout and heading downhill. An enjoyable walk close to the city.
Mount May (Mt Barney National Park)

A really fun if slightly exhausting walk with a constant steep incline. Views are excellent from both peaks. Clockwise is definitely the way to go. The southern peak track has more scrambling sections which would be fun to go up however you would not want to go down the north track which is consistently loose underfoot. This feels like a proper bush hike.

One of the most picturesque walks we have done. The views began from almost the first turn and consistently emerge at various points all the way up. We went to bare rock where the outlook is spectacular.

A great circuit for a enjoyable walk as a group. Picturesque forest and creek crossings with super old giant trees in some parts. Also spotted the Coomera River crayfishes.

Did this one with the family. A bit long for the little one but nice a outlook over the waterfall at the end.
Mt Greville (Moogerah Peaks National Park)

A great challenging walk with some scrambling sections. The trail was simple to follow on the way up but on the decent we followed the alternative way down, lost the trail at one point and had to search around for half an hour or so to get back onto the right track.
Mt Maroon (Mt Barney National Park)

Definitely one of the best walk/climbs we have done. Lots of steep scrambling sections but nothing too steep or exposed.

Really enjoyable walk with one particularly fun scrambling section. Great views from the top, however the communication facilities built up their take away from the natural feel quite a bit.

One of the most fun treks we have done. The first walking part is a bit dull but once you get to the first ridge, some of the best rock scrambling we’ve done. The summit view was narrow but the views on the previous ridge were fantastic.

We did this walk/climb around 15 years ago. Our main man was an experienced climber and brought ropes and harnesses for parts of the ascent and descent. Not too difficult to navigate, had some difficulties finding the starting point however we didn’t go all the way to the border fence first as advised. While not too difficult a trek, the exposed nature of some parts makes ropes highly advisable. The toughest part was the very last bit getting up onto the final ledge, while only about 10-12 feet up, it sticks out quite a bit making scrambling up tricky. Some views to the west of Mt Barney at the summit though thick foliage. Also there was a visitor book to sign.
Mt Barney - East Peak - Up South-East - Down South (Mt Barney National Park)

I found this a more interesting and enjoyable trail than the Yelllowpinch track as, although consistently steeper, we felt like we made faster progress upwards. Also the ridges and gorges we passed we far more interesting - including and awesome echo at one stage.
Mt Barney - East Peak - South Ridge (Mt Barney National Park)

Was an exhausting walk and one of my groups very early treks. A couple of guys only brought a regular water bottle and ran out fairly quickly. Luckily one of us had heard about a natural spring near the top which after a bit of searching we managed to find. Definitely one of the best walks in Queensland, although quite a monotonous steady uphill walk for most of it, the scrambling sections closer to the top are more fun and the 360 degree views at the peak are spectacular.

Went with an experienced climber to lead the way which is the only way to do this. Went down the western path and the walk back around to the Eastern car park sucked balls!
