Lovely walk with spectacular views of mountain lakes & the surrounding region over to both Bruny Island & Federation Peak. Had a clear windless day to enjoy the walk that is a bit difficult in the middle section climbing the first of the inclines. The track is clear marked with orange triangle markers except for the last scrabble up to the very top. Look for cairns built by previous walkers & try to walk towards them as it is the best track. There is a registration book in the info building & I suggest filling it out as weather here can change quickly. Couple of 60+ year olds completed in 4 hours taking in the side tracks to the lakes. |

Short but steep walk with nice views from the summit. Have uploaded photos of the two gates. The first gate is near car park & the second is further up a trail wide enough for vehicles. At the second gate the path veers to the right & narrows. Would be nice in conjunction with Lower Portals during cooler weather.

First half to the lookout spot is easy enough. Second half to the summit is a challenge for more elderly walkers but worth while views at the top. Agree with other walkers- take plenty of drinks. |

Stunning views from the Governors Chair spot. Road is badly washed away in spots with recent rains. A lot of bird & animal life to see. Worth the approximately 7 klms of gravel road but take it slowly.

Davies Creek & Emerald creek walks can be done easily in a day with a drive from Cairns. Lovely walk through open forest along the creek. A few steep sections & steps but overall an easy walk. Take water as it can get hot as it is more open than many of the rainforest walks around Cairns. Easy track to follow.
