Located only 4.5 kms outside of Killarney in the Scenic Rim. The 15m waterfall requires a 700 metre walk along a rough track involving plenty of climbing over rocks and under fallen trees. It is definitely worth the trek.

Getting there:

From Killarney head out on Acacia Street/Border Road and turn left into Spring Creek Road (signposted Queen Mary Falls). Just before the accent there is a picnic and car park area called Brown Falls Park on your left. The walk starts by going through a tunnel underneath Spring Creek Road.

Route/Trail notes:

Starting with a concrete path through the tunnel (a really good echo), you are quickly greeted by dirt/mud. From here the track is not all that well defined and is marked with round reflective road sign markers screwed to the trees. Typically red ones heading towards the falls and blue ones heading back. Around half way there is a cascade, keep going past this, the track continues to meander both sides of the creek as you follow the watercourse up to the falls.

Return by the same route.

This walk was certainly not for the faint hearted. As soon as there is any significant water running this is a very challenging walk. Muddy, slippery, creek crossings, log crossings, scrambling, you name it.

Beautiful forest walk. Some of the markings are missing but just follow the creek and it's easy. There were a few creek crossings so if you don't like wet shoes this walk is not for you. Also a bit of rock hopping which was a bit slippery and climbing over and under and around trees so need to be steady on your feet. Trekking poles came in handy. The swim.at the base of the falls was so worth it. And getting under the falls. I loved it.

Not an easy one but worth doing. It was a bit slippery and tricky at some parts, we got our feet wet while crossing the creek but the waterfall at the end was worth it.

Well my visit was a prime example of how recent weather conditions can drastically change the nature of a walk. I went there two days ago while on a camp at Queen Mary Falls caravan park. Expected an easy walk, but there had been recent heavy rain, the mud was deep, the water levels high, the stones above water wide apart and slippery as glass. Took all my experience just to make three creek crossing without getting wet boots (or injured) before I decided it was more than I signed up for that day and turned back.

And that was my assessment as an experienced bushwalker. I was at the Steamers lookout just a week before this, and have done many off-track walks in slippery conditions with high water levels such as Stairway Falls and Larapinta Falls. Yes I could have made it, but safety first, and I was alone - shudder to think of what would happen to Jane/Joe Public if they ventured on this track in current conditions.

I can see why it's called Browns Falls. Mud, mud followed by cleaning the shoes to cross the creek, before more mud. Waterfall is stunning.

A scenic walk along the creek bed, a little bit of rock hopping required and a few trees and tree roots to clamber around or over or under. Nice little waterfall at the end.

Great walk. Some of the markers are missing so have to keep an eye on which way to go. Bit slippery in some parts, the waterfall is lovely.

Amazing walk with our 7 and 9 year olds. We had a lot of fun rock hopping and stream crossing our way to the base of the Falls. Difficult to spot the markers at times, but it's pretty easy to figure out - basically just follow the stream.
We did this bushwalk after Queen Mary Falls, which I felt was a great way to do it - the kids (and us) found Brown's Falls much more interesting and exciting.
Both kids ended up brushing against stinging nettle, so just keep a look out! Fortunately it didn't spoil the rest of the walk and they both said afterwards that they'd love to come back and do the walk again, which is definitely saying something!!

I last did this walk in 2019 just after the bushfires had begun to move on from QLD but there were still a few about. Very hot day but always lovely by the creek.

On our afternoon drive from Boonah to Kilarney this (the 4th set of waterfalls) was the most challenging of the walks involving slippery creek banks and numerous creek 'rock hopping' crossings.

Found this walk by chance on the way to Queen Mary Falls. It has a nice park for a picnic and area to let your kids burn off some steam. The walk itself is relatively flat and follows close to the creek all the way. Nothing strenuous in terms of elevation although there is a bit of rock hopping and Criss crossing the creek following the track. Probably a good track for the middle of the day if you’re looking to take pictures as the creek doesn’t see a great deal of sun light.
