Last walk (no 8) of the weekend and a quiet stroll down to Witches Falls, till confronted by a feisty 2m Green Tree Snake! Kids pretty tired out by now, but kept on trucking till the end.

After five Tamborine walk on the rainforest floor, it was great to get a bird's eye view for a change and the kids could run along ahead in complete safety. Lots of info to read.

We walked this track after a night of thunder storms and it was interesting to note how the upper area was so wet and slippery, yet the lower area was completely dry. The buttressed tree were different to elsewhere on Mount Tamborine, as if needing them to cling the eastern mountain side.
Lots of bird and animal life around, with a face to face with a huge goanna a highlight.
Cedar Creek Falls (Tamborine National Park)

We were camped at Thunderbird Park, so this was a logical start to our second day of walks on Tamborine Mountain. At 9am, with very few people around, we had no problems parking and enjoyed the walk down to the falls and pool.
Return late afternoon for a cooling swim and the place was packed, many having to walk the 1.2km from the top of the road. We moved to the lower less popular pools and enjoyed paddling around with the kids.

We combined the two walks of Curtis Falls and Lower Creek, a total walking distance of 2.6km from the car park, which we accomplished in 1hr 15m. A cooling breeze coming off the waterfall.

We combined the two walks of Curtis Falls and Lower Creek, a total walking distance of 2.6km from the car park. Had to hold our noses a few times, as there are a couple of bat roosts!

We were really trying to find some Land Mullet in this area, but to no avail. Oh well, off to the see the Glow Worms now to end our day that included four walks.
Sandy Creek Circuit (Tamborine National Park)

This was the first of eight Tamborine Mountain walks we accomplished over two days with the children (Oh, plus the Glow Worms and the Thunder Eggs!). This walk had an abundance of wildlife, with loads of skinks, birds life, a Funnel Web Spider nest and even a cane toad. A creek with boulders to scramble over and the falls at the end.
Lots to entertain the kids and was the best and most interesting walk of the weekend.
Glass House Mountain Lookout (Glass House Mountains National Park)

What a view!!!

Great little rest spot, with toilets, shade, tables and a view to die for and a popular hot spot for 4WDs to meet before starting out.

The small walk is not needed to see the view, as there is a raised platform next to the car park. Most of the Glass House Mountains can be seen from this spot, which helps to put them into perspective along with the information boards.

Holy calf muscles!!

We definitely felt the burn on this one!! Great training mountain, so will add it to our 'summit challenge'.

View from the fire tower was spectacular and worth the pain. However, we were plagued with mozzies all the way up and flies at the top, making it uncomfortable to stop for very long and enjoy the view.

1hr round trip with miss 6 and miss 8. Would be very slippery on the descent in wet weather.
Mt Chowan (Mt Jerusalem National Park)

And there I was thinking: this is the last walk of the year, and low and behold I find a 'new' route! I thought that this was going to be an 'easy' climb; and it was at first. I then moved it to 'medium' and the final ascent to 'hard'. In 28° heat and my legs aching, I was glad to get back to the car!
Peates Mountain (Nightcap National Park)

I had intended to just do the Boggy Creek Walk to get some exercise and test out a new GPS. But guess what, ended up finding a new walk to Peates Mountain and back!
Boggy Creek Trail (Nightcap National Park)

A warm up walk, as I headed for Peates Mountain. Very damp and slippery after heavy rain, which made it all the more interesting, as the creek was really flowing.
