| Stopped here a couple of times over the years, but did not realise there was a walk along the levee. | ||||

|
| I would like to say that I completed this walk, but unfortunately not. After recent storms and flooding, it was washed away, leaving no means to cross the creek. Council were working on its restoration. | ||||

The Pebbles (Northern Territory) |
13 Jun, 2019 |
Easy |
600m return 15 mins |
|
| After the marvels of The Marbles, this was a pretty uninspiring place, that you can't get very excited about. The drive in is very badly corrugated road, that if your vehicle is precious, don't even try it. Personally, leave this one off your bucket list! | ||||
|
Karlu Karlu Walk (Northern Territory) |
12 Jun, 2019 |
Easy |
500m return 15 mins |
|
| What a great way to spend a morning having camped at the Marbles Hotel the night before. Visiting the world renowned Devil's Marbles, we thought there was just one walk around the stones. Turns out there were four, so we tracked them all, but did roll Yakkula Walk and the Nurrku Loop together. | ||||

Nurrku Walk & Yakkula Loop (Northern Territory) |

| This was a enjoyable extended stroll around the Reserve, which in June was very pleasant, but in the warmer months would be pretty arduous. This was a enjoyable extended stroll around the Reserve, which in June was very pleasant, but in the warmer months would be pretty arduous. | ||||

Cemetery & Trig Hill Loop (Northern Territory) |
10 Jun, 2019 |
Easy |
2.1km return 1 hr |
|
| This is an absolutely fascinating and historic area, with the walks a bonus. We took time out to visit the station buildings and the stories they tell. Given the amount of information available, I guess the 'Post Office' was articulate in recording what happened here. | ||||
|
Cassia Hill (West MacDonnell National Park) |
8 Jun, 2019 |
Easy |
1.8km return 45 mins |
|
| Great little walk up and around Cassia Hill, although very barren due to back burning or a recent fire in the area, it gave us a higher elevated view of the surrounding countryside. | ||||
|
Ellery Creek Big Hole (West MacDonnell National Park) |
8 Jun, 2019 |
Easy |
800m return 30 mins |
|
| The long (48km) drive up from Standley Chasm was pretty uninspiring; good job the short walk in to the waterhole was well worth it. | ||||
|
Serpentine Gorge Lookout (West MacDonnell National Park) |
8 Jun, 2019 |
Medium |
2.8km return 1 hr |
|
| Time was running short on our one day in the West MacDonnell Range, so this has to have been the fastest walk ever, but a bit more of a challenge given the climb to the lookout. | ||||
|
Serpentine Gorge Waterhole (West MacDonnell National Park) |
8 Jun, 2019 |
Easy |
2.3km return 45 mins |
|
| Having climbed to the lookout above the gorge, we ducked into the cool of the waterhole on the return leg. | ||||
|
Ochre Pits (West MacDonnell National Park) |
8 Jun, 2019 |
Easy |
1.4km return 30 mins |
|
| Last walk of the day, as we just ran out of time to get up to Glen Helen and back. With a late afternoon drive back to Alice Springs, the West MacDonnell Range comes alive as the sun creates a diversity of colours on the rock faces. | ||||
|
Simpsons Gap (West MacDonnell National Park) |
8 Jun, 2019 |
Easy |
1km return 30 mins |
|
| A full day in the West MacDonnell Ranges, was all we had time for on this trip (really needed two/three to cover all the walks, with an overnight at Glenn Helen), so headed out early and this was our first port of call. Great spectacle and yes we spotted the Black-footed Rock-wallabies and as the ranger was doing his rounds, he was happy to provide an overview of the area for us. | ||||
|
Kings Canyon Rim Walk (Watarrka National Park) |
6 Jun, 2019 |
Medium |
6.6km return 4 hrs |
|
| Very much the highlight so far on this outback road trip. Dedicated the day to this one and we needed it, with so many areas to explore and pictures to take. Stupendous, with the tranquillity of the Garden of Eden something to savour and just sit there and take it all in. So much great information on the flora and fauna, as well as the amazing geological history. Even named the Grey Shrike-thrush we had come across at Kata Tjuta (The Olgas) and here, but didn't know what it was. |

|
Southern Wall Walk (Watarrka National Park) |
6 Jun, 2019 |
Medium |
4.5km return 2 hrs |
|
| This is the coach trip visitor's walk, so can get very busy, but no less enjoyable than the full rim walk, with its views across the canyon to the north. | ||||
|
Kathleen Springs (Watarrka National Park) |
5 Jun, 2019 |
Easy |
2.7km return 75 mins |
|
| Drove up from Uluru to Kings Canyon and this was the first walk logged over a busy two days of bushwalking. Enjoyed this walk very much, not only for the surroundings, but for the historic information boards and evidence of Aboriginal artefacts including the 'grinding bowls' found in the car park. | ||||
|
Kings Creek Walk (Watarrka National Park) |
5 Jun, 2019 |
Easy |
2km return 1 hr |
|
| A look at the canyon from floor level, rather than on the rim, was different. Just a shame the viewing platform had been destroyed by flood and rock falls in 2016, but was due to be re-opened in July 2019. | ||||
