Getting there

From Brisbane follow the Cunningham Highway towards Cunningham's Gap. At the top of the gap turn right into a car park adjoining the highway. Follow the Mt. Cordeaux track which leaves from the edge of the car park.

Maps

The track is clearly marked so no map is required, however, the Sunmap Cunninghams Gap sheet covers the area.

Route/Trail notes

The Bare Rock track turns off just before the Mt. Cordeaux lookout. Follow the track as it passes through a saddle and into the rainforest. Morgan's Walk leaves the main track 680m short of Bare Rock and visits a beautiful grove of montane heath.

A great walk. It is moderately hard for beginners. But it is a rewarding walk.

Started just before 8 and took 3.5hrs to walk it. Saw a heap of wildlife - wrens, black cockatoos, fruit doves, lyrebirds, parrots, cat birds, whip birds, storm birds, wallabies and a snake (little skinny black one). Lots of stunning fungi out as well which are amazing to get up close to! The track is good although there are some sections that are so overgrown with weeds that you can no longer make out the path - especially near Mt Cordeaux and then crossing over the saddle heading to Bare Rock. Do this walk on a weekday if you can and avoid the crowds and noisy children. It was wonderful today and I think we saw less than 10 people.

Long but easy walk. In shade most of the way. Took 4.5 hrs.

Not a good year for the spear lilies flower spikes. Perhaps effected by the bushfires last year. At least the plants are okay.

A fantastic hike with stunning views and lovely rainforest, we loved it! We started at 7.30am and saw lots of wildlife! We saw a huge goanna on the path and a python that must have been about 1.7 metres long, he took about 10 mins to move off the path so we could continue on to Bare Rock. We stopped at Mt Cordeaux on the way back, stunning views!

Very scenic. The well marked track is very easy to find and follow. Signposting at all intersections. Car park is small. Get there before 8am to increase your chances of getting a park. Combined this walk with Mount Cordeaux. Beautiful views. A scenic walk from start to finish. There are cliff edges so bear that in mind if you have children. Bring warm clothes as it can be chilly and windy at the top. A gorgeous walk. It’s uphill until Mount Cordeaux but it’s not strenuous.

Great walk stunning views.

We really enjoyed this hike - set out from the Cunningham's Gap car park at about 8:30am and enjoyed the steady incline through the rainforest on the clearly marked trail up to the lookout at Mt Cordeaux. Stunning views and blooming bush flowers on a beautiful, fine spring day. Continuing on to Bare Rock and Morgan's Chair were worthwhile additions to the Cordeaux walk and is relatively flat. This is not a difficult hike, however, reasonable fitness for this length of hike will enhance enjoyment. Once reaching Mt Cordeaux, there's a number of places to stop and take in the views and have a bite to eat including Bare Rock and Morgan's Chair.

Nice windy day on the mountain, great hike though! Not too taxing and views/scenery were well worth it. Even saw a couple of Lyrebirds!

Took us about 4.5 hours if you take out photos and lunch stop. Really nice. Will definitely do again some time. Very windy and cold at Bare Rock.

Quite busy on a public holiday. Parking is very limited.
Steady incline all the way to bare rock. Worth the detour to Morgan's walk for a slightly different view. Very fire damaged at Morgan's walk lookout still. Nice walk through varying vegetation.

Nice, easy track. Muddy in parts but nothing to complain about. A lot of interesting things to see along the way, take a long sleeve.

Easy walk with some great views, and some beautiful scenery. You're walking through rain forest so the temperature will be quite pleasant.

An early morning start was well worth it and we were rewarded with a space in the car park at 7am and hardly any other walkers on the way up. Bit chilly in places, wind resistant jacket recommended. Relatively easy continual climb up clear paths and rock steps. Track from Mt Cordeaux to Bare Rock was an easy relatively flat walk and worth the extra distance. At this time of year I appreciated a light pair of gloves as well.

Beautiful views, easy walk.

Tackled this one again as show and tell for my partner! I really love this walk for the lush rainforests and birdlife. We walked the Mt Cordeaux, Bare Rock, Morgan’s Track then the Rainforest Circuit. Total of 15km. A wonderful morning out walking! Try to get to the mountain before 8am to get a park otherwise it’s too busy!
