A paved but very steep walk leads 700 metres uphill through a small area of rainforest, then winds up through eucalyptus woodland to a fire tower. There is a 360 degree view of the Glass House Mountains and other parts of South East Queensland from the summit. On a clear day, Brisbane CBD is visible too. When descending the fire tower, go down backwards as you would with any ladder, several people have tried to go down forward and had very nasty accidents.

Route/Trail notes:

From the trailhead car park, a zigzag track leads you up through the trees to the old car park. From hear you have a steep hike on the paved fire tower access road, that doesn't end until you are at the top. Some seats along the way to take a rest on. Great views from the first floor of the fire tower.

Return by the same route.

Permits/Costs:

None.

Get to the track before lunchtime to enjoy your time at the top and take plenty of water.

Great walk with my two eldest kids. They loved it but were a bit puffed. My eldest (12) said it was more challenging than Mt Coolum that he had climbed just recently. I must admit, I thought it would be easier than it was but then again, we did it pretty quickly.

Did this after a night shift. Hard work, but good concrete path. Fairly steep. Certainly feel like you've achieved alot after 700m up. Breathtaking views of the Glasshouse mountains.

Did this walk for the first time and boy 'o boy, what a workout on the legs. Just as hard coming down. The views at the top were gorgeous though, so certainly worth it.

Steep incline but pretty easy. I am moderately fit and this was relatively easy for me due to the short distance. Don't feel it's as bad as everyone says! Definitely get a little sweat and a bit puffed but really it's not too hard at all. View for sunrise was amazing.

First of many mountains my wife and I intend on climbing in the Glasshouse Mountains. It is indeed steep as mentioned so many times previously but don’t let that put you off. We are incredibly unfit at the moment and have to admit that we both were hesitant; however we are so glad we got off the couch and achieved something! The view was a nice reward and we started very early in the morning meaning we had the whole mountain to ourselves.

If you are on the fence on this one, my advice would be – “It’s not a race. Every step taken means you are one step closer to reaching the top. Take it slow and soak in all the beauty that is Mt Beerburrum.”

We did this walk yesterday, we had read the warnings but of course disregarded them as wild horse was easier, do not disregard the warnings, I went with my husband we are oldies, some much younger people gave up due to the steep incline and there is extensive leaf litter around atm which is slippery.

If you climb the tower which we did ACCEND backwards holding the rail and walking down the way you came up, nasty accidents have been caused by people trying to go forward down, HIGHLY recommend you reverse down slowly....

Great views from the top of the tower and its well worth the effort. TAKE mozzie spray they are lethal atm, and its seriously not for anyone with leg or back issues as the incline is very steep as others have said.

Seeing people half my age stop and quit yet they appeared much fitter did concern me so I made a point of making this review today.

Personally loved the climb what a challange it was, but be prepared

Summited Beerburrum today after doing Tibberoowuccum and Tibrogargan prior. I don't recall when it happened, but the trees surrounding the fire tower have been cleared or cut back and so the view has opened up considerably.

For those who haven't completed this walk before, know that it isn't very long but that it's relentlessly steep. Along the way, there are three seats carved into rocks along the side of the path at similar intervals. The gradient lessens a little around these points so they're good spots to seek respite from the testing ascent.

Today I got to the top and returned to the carpark all in 18 minutes, walking briskly upwards and running downwards. The sign at the trailhead recommends that you allow one hour, but even a relatively unfit person will probably not take so long unless they take some time to rest, eat, and/or take photos at the summit. Beerburrum is excellent for training. I've seen different types of people all training for something here, from the Kokoda Track to Mount Everest.

Happy hiking and I wish you the best.

Steep steep steep! It’s paved but definitely an ass burner. Great little platform to climb up to get good views at summit. If you don’t have much time, you can drive partially up and there is some parking. We walked from the base of the mountain for extra walking. Beautiful walking under trees but no streams

A short, steep walk to start the day

A paved but very steep walk to the summit. Extensive views from mount cooroy in the north to the CBD of Brisbane. Took about 45 mins at a leisurely pace.

Short but painful - paved the whole way but I swear to god it has to be a 45/50 degree incline (or it feeles like it). Dont wear hiking boots - you need more ankle movement AND the paved path is like sandpaper on those expensive boots. Beautiful view at the top. Path is smooth, but too steep to be called "wheelchair accessible" unless you're one of those "strong man" types that pulls planes in competitions.

suprised it was indeed completely paved, but as it's so steep, you're legs feel this one. Enjoyed it! (and I don't envy the pavers...)

A steep track up as soon as the concrete starts a great leg work out!
6 times in a day was definitely a work out!!

Great exercise for legs and butt! Steep walk but not too long and some paved paths, nice views from the top.
