Light Line bush camp walk (D'Aguilar National Park)
13 Sep, 2010
Easy
3.6km

The walk to Lightline bush camp was interesting today. Saw a massive python at the beginning of the track. Then approx 500m down the track was a scrub turkey going about its business before I interrupted it. Numerous lizzards scurring around. Some beautiful parrots just added to the beauty of nature.
When I reached the bush campsite the fire pit has been removed. I'm not sure why? I dug a small hole in the ground and setup my fire. The coffee didn't take long and soon after that I put my noodles on.
What a great afternoon. Eating my lunch and in the distance I cold see F-111's and F/A 18 Hornets flying around. Tried out some new gear, a good walk.
And on the way back the python was still there. I guess if your THAT big you don't have much to worry about ! (At the widest approx 20cms)

Coomera Circuit (Lamington National Park)

The track is in good condition. No fallen trees. But as we finished the walk and were back at the camp ground the weather started closing in and the rain started. So I would think the track conditions 9-8-10 to at least the 13th or 14 th August will be slippery conditions. So recommend walking poles and take care at all cliff edges.
The best thing about the rain is that the Coomera Falls will be more spectacular !

Another day... Another walk....

On the way back last 1.5km is hard when you know you are so close ! Loved it all the way. There is a little land slide near Lower Ballunjui Falls but enough people have been through it to start wearing the track through again.

Just before crossing the Enoggera creek, on the left follow the rocks to the waterhole and then a faint track appears on the bank. This is a great spot to have a cup of coffee on the banks of the creek. It's only a 500m diversion but well worth the short walk.

This track is always very interesting and especially so if you take someone along and experience the artwork together. A few mozzies new the creek but otherwise OK. Anytime we do a walk at Mount Cootha we always combine it with a walk through the Botanical Gardens a great way to unwind.

Still a nice and easy walk. Some exposed roots and rocks. Also some of the steps can be a bit high. But overall a good little walk. The creek beds are still dry. You can finish off this walk with a lunch at the BBQ areas all around the park.

This park can be very busy during the weekends. I would suggest going during the week with less crowds. And more time to enjoy the walk.

Another day.... Another walk....

As always such great views. Camped the night up there to get sunset and sunrise photos. But more unexpectedly we ended up with the most amazing photos and videos of Wedgetail Eagles gliding in the early mornings.

From the carpark the walk doesn't seem all that bad until you round the first corner approx 50m in then the walk becomes incredibly steep. At this point have a little rest a mouthful of water and just tackle it.
When you get to the top there is a little green walking track marker post turn left here. Don't follow the track straight ahead. Around 500-700m there is a slight track leading to the right where an old tree has fallen down. It is a good little lookout.
When back on track keep following track to the left. The numerous track shooting off to the right go down to JC Slaughter Falls area.
Soon you reach a second high point and then the track starts to drop steeply following this down will take you back to the park approx 100m from the carpark its a short walk back to the carpark.

The track is well maintained. And easy to follow. Lookout for the waterfall on the way down. The creek banks provide ideal location for lunch. A great escape from the city heat.

Middle Kobble bush camp walk (D'Aguilar National Park)

Mainly easy to follow track. Some of the turn offs can be hidden. Make sure you bring map and compass. In the late afternoon a pair of Wedgetail Eagles circle overhead and roost somewhere near the Wivenhoe Lookout. Also came across a snake in the middle of the track.
Along the track you get fleeting views of the coastline. As you proceed along the track near the 'proceed at own risk' sign, better views can be had.
This track is better suited to bush camping than a day walk.

Scrub Road bush camp walk (D'Aguilar National Park)
27 Jun, 2010
Medium

It took 1hr 15min to walk this track if you don't count rest stops or time for photos etc. It was also great to see a few people out on the remote tracks. While I was having lunch I saw an elderly couple walking past my camp. And when I was leaving a couple was walking up to the campground.
The campsite being at the top of the hill will make it a little prone to windy conditions but also won't be so cold as the lower sections in the mornings.
A light sprinkle at lunchtime but nothing to worry about. Hope you get out this weekend.

Northbrook Mtn bush camp walk (D'Aguilar National Park)

I left this walk a little late.... I know i'll be walking back half the way in the dark.. No problems I have a head torch.

Starting off in rainforest that soon disappears into the usual dry forest. Stopped off at the old Timber loader. Then continued along and I saw a Goanna cross the track and head up a tree where it tried to get some bird eggs. I don't know how successful it was I kept walking.

Eventually got to the camp ground.. Saw a new water tank and roof. I set myself up in the afternoon sun trying to dry out my shirt. Brewed up some coffee and had a bite to eat. And took it all in ........ too bad i have to walk back.

I made it back in the dark. Head torch worked well and very happy with it. About the last half hour back was in the dark so not too bad....

An easy walk along a well worn 4WD track. There is plenty of room at the campsite. A water tank is there and an established fire place is there and logs to sit on.

This is a great place to base yourself before exploring the other tracks that lead off from the campsite.
