Route/Trail notes

This page covers the Island Circuit (3km) and Bird Hide (1km) tracks.  The walk is clearly signed, see attached GPS for further guidance.

There are also tracks to right and left off the Bird Hide track which are well worth following.  While not signed they are clear and easy to follow, offering longer walks through a greater variety of vegetation and plenty of kangaroos.  No problem being there, I checked with a ranger, just stay on the tracks.

Easy and enjoyable walk with lovely river views. Boardwalks over mangrove sections can get hot to walk on barefoot. Lots of birdlife to see.

Heaps of Eastern Grey Kangaroos and birdlife (though, no birds to be seen from the hide!). Had a lovely breeze so no problems with mozzies or midges. Lots of side trails so you can meander all over exploring

Would not recommend for prams as it was a really bumpy ride in certain sections.

Great place to walk the dog - strictly on leash of course. The well formed board walk is an easy 2 - 3 km circuit with several information boards along the way. Combination of salt and fresh water vegetation. I recommend getting off the board walk and onto the other clear tracks in the area, which give much wider variety of vegetation and plenty of kangaroos. While these tracks are clear and easy to follow they are not marked, but it's ok to walk them , just keep on the track and keep the dog on leash - I checked with a ranger.

Beautiful walk, but bring bug spray for the mosquitoes! 😂

Nice pleasant walk beside the Pine River. It is a good place to do bird watching. There is a bird hide on a side track.

A nice flat walk, best to combine all walks in the area. A good place for birding.
