Mt. Coot-tha Summit Track

Mt. Coot-tha

Mt Coot-tha Lookout has sweeping views of Brisbane City, Moreton Bay, and around to the Tweed Volcano, Main Range and Mount Barney and Flinders Peak. The walk to this lookout, from JC Slaughter Falls Picnic Area, is a potentially slightly testing but generally easy walk on a paved track that straddles a gully.

Short walk, easy. Views beautiful In the arvo. Cafe/restaurant at main lookout point

Beautiful walk - bit hard on the knees coming down though as the ascent on the way up is relatively steep

great walk. 30mins medium level to the top. great view on the top with cafe and restaurants

Very easy walk, clean well travelled paths.

Liked this! One reason why.. Amazing views of brisbane and its city from the summit. And get a coffee (restaurant and cafe up here) and relax on seats up the top and enjoy the view and the breeze. Walk wasnt hard, the falls were puddles of stagnant water due to lack of rainfall

I walked this track at dusk and again at night in order to watch the moon rise over the city. It was quite pretty as always at the summit, but there were many people crowding the rim of the lookout platform, and it was uncharacteristically windy. The walk has a generally low gradient with few stairs and is not at all strenuous. At night, many cane toads like to come out and play. They detract a little from the otherwise nice atmosphere.

Fairly easy walk.
Not particularly scenic during the walk as it had been very dry.
View from the summit was beautiful.
Plenty of parking at the start of the walk.

Easy walk with plenty of water bubblers along the way.

This is an easy/medium walk. Would not recommend it for kids under 6 as there are lots of inclines and stairs. The view at the top is amazing and very well worth the walk. It is a fairly busy track, frequented more on weekends. Walk takes 30-45 mins up depending on your level of fitness, then can enjoy a coffee at the cafe and back down is approx 30 minutes. Wear closed in shoes and ideally take bug spray if spending anytime at the JC Slaughter Falls picnic area.

We did this as the middle part of a loop. The aboriginal art trail first and the mahogany trail last to descend. It was a popular track of a Sunday mid morning, with kids and dogs enjoying the track too. Everyone was friendly and there was not sooo many people that you wished you’d chosen another day.

Used to descend Mount Coot-tha as the last part of our circuit. Didn't realise how steep the steps actually are until you are walking down them.

I've done this one many times as it's fairly easy, but a nice incline to get the heart racing at the same time. Beautiful views of Brisbane at any time of day, but I prefer to do this walk & reach the summit for sunrise. It's a bit dark & sketchy looking going up at this time, but I usually only see other people on the track on my walk back down at this time. Takes about half an hour to get up from the car park & less to get down.

I always seem to forget how many stairs there are. The four of us completed the Summit Track in 45mins

Awesome walk!! wish our fitness level was better but I was able to get a couple of really nice photos and I never gave up. We only followed this track going up and then went down a different track. Both were lovely. Really like Mount Coot Tha :-)

A really enjoyable and relatively easy walk. A good way to get started after the new year. A few inclines here and there but not too steep. I walked this at a leisurely pace and it took about 1 hour return with time for a few photos at the top.

Views from the top are spectacular, what a magnificent part of the world we are blessed to live in

Finally ticked this one off this afternoon after a weekend of big "I'm on holidays" meals. I was surprised at the good quality of the track and it didn't take too long at all to reach the summit. I nice bit of sweating and a rewarding view at the end :)

Start from the car park of JC Slaughter Falls, very gentle route with well-defined path. The view at the top is fantastic, suitable for family to spend a leisure half day!

Much more fun on the way downhill. Views at the top make all the effort worthwhile. Completed with a 5, 7 and a 9 yr old. Thought the Aboriginal art trail was disappointing with hard to read signs and hard to see art. No action at JC falls despite some rainfall the day before.

Nice and easy trail. Walked up the Summit trail and back down to JC Slaughter Falls on the Mahogany Trail. Very pleasant afternoon walk. A couple of hours - including plenty of time for a coffee at the Summit Cafe.
