Mount Ngungun (pronounced 'noo noo')but generally known as "Gun Gun" is a very popular hike due to its relative ease and fantastic views.

A well defined graded track with some steep sections. The track begins in open forest with a fern understory. Part way up the mountain, there is a great view of Mt Tibrogargan as the track passes a small rock overhang. The summit provides spectacular close-up views of nearby Mt Tibrogargan, Mt Tibberoowuccum, Mt Coonowrin and Mt Beerwah.

Route/Trail notes:

A graded path starts from the sign post and information board. Follow the path, which switch backs up the hill till you reach a steep, loose, rocky gully, requiring big steps or light scramble/rock hop up. When you reach the top, it's a good place to have a rest, picnic and the view.

Return by retracing your steps.

Awesome.

Easy, well maintained walk. Even our 2 years old could manage most of it. The view is nice. Way too busy though!

Not to hard. Lovely view.

One of my favourite walks in Queensland to date. It was a decent walk up, with a few stops to catch my breath on a warm day, but the view (reward) at the top is spectacular as you can see 360 degrees and the beauty of the glass house mountains.

Ensure that you take water and I suggest that it is best to do on a cooler day. Take your camera!

Easy and beautiful walk! The view at the top was amazing, tiny bit of rock scaling to do but was easy!

My second time up this mountain, was a very overcast day with a wet track. Still a good climb, especially now that the track has been fixed since my previous visit. Shame about the view though today, was all fog.

Great hike for newbies like myself. Lots of stairs but plenty of places to rest if needed on the way up. Spectacular views at the top especially for sunrise or sunset. It does get a little bit busy but you can certainly see why it is so popular.

Good, relatively vigorous walk with the kids. Didn’t take our 7 year old but the 10 and 13 year old kids did it quite easily. A bit of a balancing act on the summit as it was quite busy but beautiful views. Nice, quick climb with a breeze and beautiful views as a reward.

Nice hit out to break in the new year. Always a good view at the top and nothing to strenuous.

Great walk and beautiful views, we did this walk in the evening to see the sunset and came down on the dark with headlamps.

Great little walk, pretty popular. Views are good, but smoke haze obscured some of the grandeur, will revisit in Winter on a clear day

Beautiful sunset view

Loved this walk super easy track and the caves along the way where cool. Felt good reaching the last steps to the top to expose an amazing view and array of butterflies and birds. Great views but highly recommended a sunrise or sunset trip went in the middle of the day and it got pretty scorching at the summit

Awesome hike! Great one for kids, as it's fairly easygoing for the most part and not too long. A couple of steepish parts, but the track is well defined. Took us about an hour to reach the summit, and half an hour back. Make sure you take plenty of water with you, especially in the warmer weather. It was 28 degrees today, but a nice breeze made it bearable. Views from the summit are incredible and make it all worthwhile. Definitely recommend!

Nice views, comparable difficulty to Mt coolum.
