Getting there:

From Monto, head north on the Burnett Highway and after 11.5km turn right into Cania Road (signposted Cania Gorge). Follow this for 13.7km and park by the picnic area and information board on the right, about 1km beyond the Cania Gorge Tourist Retreat.

Route/Trail notes:

From the car park head out along the signposted track and across Three Moon Creek. After 450m, take the left fork, which takes you along the track above a creek to Dripping Rock. From there, continue on to The Overhang, with its examples of 'modern rock art!' and return by the same route.

Other References/Comments:

Many people combine this walk with Dragon and Bloodwood Caves, by taking a left when you get back to the fork.

Basing yourself at Cania Gorge Tourist Retreat for a few days, is a great way to provide easy access to these walks.

My favourite of all the walks in Cania Gorge. We even did it in the rain and it just added to the awesome feel of the place.

An easy cool walk, lots of pockets of surprises with hidden mini caves and colourful wall displays. Amazing overhanging rock with a few fern trees. Stopping at Dripping Rock was so tranquil.

Day two and four walks to cover, so this was the first. An early start meant not many on the track and time to have a good look around. This included working my way up the creek bed beyond The Overhang until the size of the boulders barred my way.

Last year was the 2nd time on this walk.

Each time there are different features exposed. Rocks, erosion, trees, and gold orb spiders. It is windy, can run along the creek bed (amazing rocks found there!), steps and board walk type before reaching the overhang.

I imagine it like a fairy forest! It feels magical, walking quietly and enjoying the landscape. The overhang is HUGE you can walk right under and around it, like a jurassic park kind of feel with ferns. Dripping rock is fascinating, the green contrast against the orange red rock is stunning.
