Getting there:

From Monto, head north on the Burnett Highway and after 11.5km turn right into Cania Road (signposted Cania Gorge). Follow this for 13.7km and park by the picnic area and information board on the right, about 1km beyond the Cania Gorge Tourist Retreat.

Route/Trail notes:

From the car park, head out along the signposted track and across Three Moon Creek. After 450m, take the right fork, which leads upwards along the cliff face. Towards the top, a signposted track to the left takes you to Dragon Cave where a naturally formed black dragon like mural can be seen highlighted against the white sandstone wall.

Return to the main track and turn left up to Bloodwood Cave, so named as the roots of a bloodwood tree go through the cave. From here, there is a steep stepped 70m section that takes you to the Gorge Lookout. Return by the same route.

Many people combine this walk with Dripping Rock and The Overhang, by taking a right when you get back to the fork.

Basing yourself at Cania Gorge Tourist Retreat for a few days, is a great way to provide easy access to these walks.
