White Rock Ridge Hike (White Rock - Spring Mountain Conservation Estate) |

| Great walk. Just be aware that the distance of the Ridge Track itself is 1.8km from the start of that track to White Rock itself. It's about 2km from the actual start of the walk at the picnic area to get to the start of the Ridge Track. The loop around White Rock is another 1.5km. The .gpx file on this site takes you on a slightly shorter version of the loop around White Rock and is definitely the 'road less travelled!' This shortcut is somewhat overgrown now but is still navigable and adds some extra interest compared to the maintained route - both join onto the same fire road below White Rock. From that fire road you can take a route back up to the main Ridge Track (which is the way the .gpx file will take you and is more scenic) or follow the fire trail back to the picnic area for an easier option. The drive into the main picnic area is unusual in the fact that to access the area you drive through residential streets of a new housing estate. Climbing White Rock is now very clearly signed as prohibited including warnings of significant fines for doing so also stating that it is patrolled by Police and council officers. A great walk and highly recommended. We completed the .gpx route in 2 hours walking quite briskly as we had limited time. | ||||

| Spectacular hike with interesting and scenic gorges keeping the climb and descent interesting and fun for our group which included kids from age 12 up (that have done a lot of hiking). The view from the Rock Platform is spectacular - one of the best in the region in our opinion. The view from the top is significantly obstructed by trees but still well worth the effort and satisfaction of hiking to the summit. It took us 4.5 hours to complete the circuit which included opportunity for a relaxed lunch break enjoying the view at the Rock Platform and another break at the summit. We found navigating the route quite straightforward particularly after reading the the route summary guide provided on this site. Certainly a good level of physical fitness is required as the route is quite steep often with no formed trail in the gorges. This circuit made for a great day trip from Brisbane. | ||||
