Boat Mountain, Daniels Lookout (Wide Bay Burnett)
Aug, 2021

I grew up in this area. We have done this walk multiple times with our (now grown up) kids. You need to be at least of average fitness with good knees to get up the stairs at the beginning then it's flat on top (like an upturned boat). We have done it at night as well to go spotlighting for gliders etc. We always see koalas near Daniel's lookout and have seen echidnas, carpet snakes and pademelons in the vine scrub section. Take a picnic up to have and enjoy the views.
Mt Ngungun (Glass House Mountains National Park)

Beaut straight forward kind of walk up the mountain when you can't do Mt Tibro or Beerwah. We took our kids up here many years ago when younger - a great spot for a picnic
Aquila Loop (D'Aguilar National Park)
May, 2021
Hard
21km
2 days
My first overnight hike backpacking in and out for many years. Ross has done more of this than I have and he cruised it! A bit hard on day 2 hiking out with my very sore muscles letting me know that hiking with a heavier pack is not the same as a day pack. Having said that it is easy to navigate and the campsite was very pleasant with running water at the time we were there. I would recommend it as a beginner overnight option as long as you can pack your pack quite light and are "walking fit".
Robinson Gorge Access (Expedition National Park)
Jul, 2020
Hard

Expedition NP is one of our favourites. We recommend Topo Maps from QMaps download and a GPS. Ross went right to the end of the gorge where gets impassable due to becoming very narrow and muddy/very cold water . If you are very fit and experienced you can access to the gorge and go to the end (towards the cattle dip) and back in one day. Julie just went a kilometre down and took lots of photos...
