What an adventure, did not disappoint.
The 3 of us started at Brett rd and instead of going down the right side track below the huge pile of gravel, past a gate, partly overgrown track and over the little wooden bridge. We went up the end of the road past the gate into private property and made our own track up to the summit following the creeks. Definitely took longer, but less steep and met a really long Python. Found the Ipswich Bushwalkers Geo Cache at 1372 mtrs Alt and set up camp (make sure you pay your camping permit of $6). Not to sure if this is the highest point. Suunto App says 750 mtrs SW is 1375 mtrs Alt, will get back to you on this. Sundown by 17.30 and at around 18.00 whilst eating dinner, along comes 5 hungry, thirsty, cold, hikers using mobile phones to guide them whilst wearing shorts and jumpers. We insisted on them staying, but they wanted to continue on. I text with their emergency contact, gave them water, snacks and torches, and off they went. Next morning whilst eating breakfast 2 of the 5 hikers made it back to our camp and said they got lost and spent the night. We quickly rushed food and warm clothes back to the others, packed camp and headed back to the cars. Following them we ended up at their sleep spot and we too were lost. LOL. So out come the compass, maps, and GPS and as easy as that we had overshot the mark and heading down the opposite side of the mountain. Upon returning to the T-intersection marked with orange tape and a Cairn, there was the Ranger and 3 Police officers who had been called for rescue last night after they got lost. The rest was uneventful but good for conversation.
You can eat the hanging red berries at waist height, they taste like pommy granites with seeds. watch out for stinging nettle, and one of the worlds most venomous plants, the Gympie Gympie. Look it up it might save your life.
And I must give a shout out to my 7 year old son who impressed the Ranger so much he insisted on giving my son extra goodbyes and congratulations to.
9.30 - 1500 up = 5.5hrs making our own path
2.5 hrs down, using correct path.

Had a 4wd and parked in at the T212 marker.
found the cairn marker and headed up along the path with no problems, found another cairn marker and turned left to the summit. Coming down we walked another trail and ended up at the south side. So we climbed it again and went back down the right trail (middle one). LOL. my 7 year old and I smashed it both times in 45minutes up and back, total 1.5hrs.

easy walk with the 2 kids, 7 and 4 years old. 1 hour up and 45 down.
bit confusing up the top just go left every time and you'll go clockwise around the top. and get views east, south and west, but not all at once its very dense up there.

First to the carpark. Started at 3am with the wife and 2 year old daughter this time. Carried my daughter the whole way up on my back with a backpack on my front. My 5 year old smashed it, but the wife stopped at the rock amphitheatre. A lot of work has been done here to make the track an easy walk. The very top is the grade 5 which is disappointing if you cant ascend and miss the sunrise. Otherwise its a great view on the right day, we were stuck in the fog unfortunately. Round trip of 7 hrs with the 2 year old insisting on walking all the way down #slowwalking

We found our limit for 1 day, 12.5 hrs total, 7hrs up with a 6.15am start and down in 5 hrs by 6.45pm. We took the peasants ridge to the east summit (by 1pm). My 5 year old was just a tad slow, he never complained or struggled, just dawdled from rum jungle down. We never got lost and made it to the road width graded path before dark which guaranteed an easy walk without stressing. We had 4 layers on the top, pants, gloves, and beanies, 1.5 days of food, 8 litres of water, 2 headlamps and 2x200 lumen torches, GPS, GPS watch, a mobile phone, and a UHF. Everything but a tent which we will use for any mountaineering over this distance again - 14km round trip, and 1352mtrs high.
Gorgeous view and it made our previous trip up Mount Maroon look small.

Great day. Found 3 geos. Welcomed back by a police party, sirens and all for a lost hiker. Not quite 1000mtrs above sea level though. Met a lovely couple - good luck with your travels on the pct.

Warning. This is a hands knees and feet climb. Wear gloves on a hot day as they'll cook on the rock. Don't wear nice clothes as you could shred your bum sliding down. If you don't make the top of the mountain within 2 hrs on a hot day you will run out of 2 ltrs of water per person. Now that I've freaked you out, I did it with my 15kg daughter on my back and my 5 yr old son went up it like a mountain goat who needed a little bit of help. Awesome climb.
