Greenes Falls via Rainforest Circuit + Cypress Grove Circuit

Greenes Falls Track is one of three connected walks, comprising of the Rainforest Circuit (2km return), Greenes Falls Track (+2.2km return) and the optional add-on of Cypress Grove Circuit (+500m), making a total walking distance of 4.7km. The small but beautiful trail network includes several boardwalk sections and sets of stairs, passing over rainforest pools and ending at a lookout above Greenes Falls. Be prepared for an uphill walk on the return trip. Parking is available at Maiala car park.

Getting there

At the lower end of the bottom carpark of the Maiala picnic ground. The Maiala Picnic Ground is on Mt Glorious Rd near the intersection with Browns Rd and is well signposted. The Picnic Ground has modern and clean toilets at the top of the picnic area (but are not well stocked !!).

With a boardwalk this track is achievable for most fitness levels, however walkers with knee/ankle problems should be aware that there are several sets of stairs (some wooden staircases with handrails, some natural rock steps.)

Beautiful rainforest walk. The falls aren’t much to look at, so enjoy the scenery on the walk in and out.

This beautiful rainforest walk never disappoints. Easy walk on well maintained track. The falls are never more than a trickle but the rocky drop off is interesting. Don’t expect much from the falls and you won’t be disappointed. The real draw card is the rainforest with birds singing and the odd pademelon or wallaby. Nice picnic grounds and Alm Haus cafe nearby.

Walking on wooden deck, under tall gorgeous trees feels good on this walk, the only downside is a bit short. Nice picnic area at the car park.

Walked this in the rain today and it was stunning. Not a difficult walk, gentle up hill on the return leg but very achievable. Not very muddy, great board walk sections and gravel sections. Muddy puddles were limited, 10 yr old would have liked more. Very well maintained track.

A lovely walk covered by lots of lush tree's, so plenty of shade. I completed this walk in about an hour and I wasn't rushing. It had been raining a few days before I completed the walk, so there was quite a substantial amount of mud. Expect to get dirty. Plus the path was quite slippery in parts.

Found this to be an easy and interesting walk. The falls weren’t much to look at but a pretty trail along the way, lots of bird song and rainforest sounds, some impressively large trees by the path. We did it with a 2.5 year old and she had no problems.

Have done this walk a few times, it's an enjoyable descent into the rainforest before reaching the lookout to the falls. Be warned, I last completed in January after significant rain and there are leeches EVERYWHERE.

This is a great walk, lots of boardwalks, beautiful location. Would be awesome just after rain to see the water flowing. We added the Rainforest Circuit, Cypress Grove Track and the Westside Track to complete just over 10km.

Loved this walk - some magnificent trees, avid birdlife (but you may not see them) and a true nature sound. We added the Rainforest Circuit, Cypress Grove Track and the Westside Track to complete just over 10km. It would be better if people didn’t speak loudly - the sound of the forest is beautiful.

Easy, interesting walk with young children. Falls were underwhelming for the young ones as they weren't allowed to scramble down to get a better look. Completed the rainforest circuit on the return. Walking time was just under 2hrs with 1 adult, a 6yr old & a 3yr old (needed a piggyback for the last 1.5km.

Done this walk multiple times. Can get very muddy and lots of leeches in wet weather. Beautiful rainforest the whole way to the top of the falls. I do recommend doing the scramble down to the bottom of the falls, especially after long heavy rain (its when the falls are the best). Great spot if you are into mycology with bioluminescent fungi glowing at night (you will need a torch to navigate through the dense rainforest)

Super easy walk. Was quite dry despite the rain, no mud or bogginess so no need for hiking shoes. I just went with my runners. The falls were also pretty dry but still pretty great. Try and scramble down if you can! Lots of pademelons and cool fungi :)
