Getting there

You can start the hike at either Tsumago or Magome. Easiest way is to drive there and park at the town. It is possible to get here via public transport, it is just that buses are very infrequent and would require immense planning and waiting around. I recommend driving if possible.

Route/Trail notes

Begin the hike by following signs towards Magome/Tsumago (Nakasendo). It should take you through the centre of town before you disappear into a lush forest. Continue following signs for Magome/Tsumago. There will be sections where you will walk on the road, but there are infrequent. Along the way there are tea houses and resturants if you need to rest. Some of the tea houses are free. Keep an eye out for signs towards a set of two waterfalls, they are stunning. Complete the hike when you arrive in the town over. The walk will take you between Gifu/Nagano prefectures. Once arrived in the opposing post town, I recommend taking the bus back to where you started to avoid backtracking.
