Enoggera Reservoir Tunnel (Brisbane Forest park D'Aguilar National Park)
31 Oct, 2021
Medium
4km return
90 mins
It's possible to crouch through the tunnel - just a few minor roof falls. However this isn't recommended because bats roost in it near the south end. Apart from disturbing them, a fairly enclosed space with a lot of bat shit in it is a health hazard. It's easy to reach the north entrance from south boundary road, and to continue along the water course to the enoggera dam circuit.
Coomera Gorge (Lamington National Park)

I sometimes wonder with the Daly SEQ book how many of the walks they have actually done within living memory. Even when I know the way I find the directions hard to make sense of. The Bushpeople's guide, though older, is in my experience much more accurate and reliable.
Mt Cougal (Springbrook National Park)
14 Feb, 2021
Hard
10km
5 hrs
The circuit is best done in the Boyd's Butte to East peak direction, as it's easier to find the route in ascent. West peak is a nice plateau with a couple of camp sites but no water. The old logging road between the cougal trailhead and the cascades, mentioned in posts here but not in the guide books, provides a nice circuit. The whole thing, including west peak, took about 5h.
Wilson's Peak (Main Range National Park)
7 Feb, 2021
Very Hard

Tried the Wilson's creek circuit as described in the 1990s bushpeople's guide. The start near Teviot gap is a bit overgrown, but once you're past the farmland it's reasonably clear along the north ridge. Plenty of posts from the old rabbit fence. Also a clear route down the east ridge. However Wilson's creek has a lot of fallen trees and undergrowth, including stinging trees. Its smooth sides can also get slippery, so there's a fair amount of wading through pools. Then a bit of a road bash back. I'd recommend skipping the creek and keeping to the north and east ridges as a there and back.
South Kobble bush camp walk (D'Aguilar National Park)

a more direct return is to go up the creek for about 10 min from the camp. just after a big flat left creek branch, go up the long spur heading SW. there's a path on either side of a ditch that runs the whole way up the spur. gradually heading more west you reach a knoll, height not marked on the map but 675m. from here there's a good path west that comes out 50m past the lepidozamia locked gate. this knoll is a common marker point for walks in the 1990s people's guide to SE qld bushwalks. eg. a path south from the knoll comes to a cairn where there's a path left to the piper comanche wreck. to avoid lantana when approaching the 675m knoll from south kobble, try to intercept an old cut logging track that runs just north of the knoll. but even if you get distracted by pig tracks and end up in some lantana it's not too bad. just head for the 675m knoll. i've done this route a few times. it makes south kobble bush camp into a nice circuit walk.
South Kobble bush camp walk (D'Aguilar National Park)
27 Jul, 2019
Very Hard

The path NE from the 560 knoll is definitely better. After the saddle head east. Follow the ridge that gradually bends south, to meet the creek directly at the bushcamp. Stay on the crest of this spur all the way down. If you head south too early you end up in lantana. The correct (if you want an easy day) more easterly ridge is fairly open. If you end up in lantana, the feeder creek running SE to meet S kobbold creek at the bushcamp is also an OK route if it’s dry. The camp is on the north bank of S kobbold creek, just east of a small cliff. It’s a nice spot. About 2h each way.
As these are all old logging paths, look out for old sawn tree stumps as indicators that you’re going the right way. The pink tape is less useful - more like annoying litter. The path is easy to follow for most of the way.
Middle Kobble bush camp walk (D'Aguilar National Park)
22 Jun, 2015
Medium
10km
5 hrs
If you go in via the north loop, note that AS0372 is wrongly marked on the topographic map. It is just before the north kobble break turnoff, not afterwards. Otherwise well maintained paths and easy to navigate with the map from the walkabout creek information centre.
North Kobble bush camp walk (D'Aguilar National Park)
21 Jun, 2015
Medium
20km return
8 hrs
There is now a bulldozed track all the way that is easy to follow.
Aquila Loop (D'Aguilar National Park)

The cross-country route described in South-East Queensland walks (with a variation on this site) was overgrown with lantana and lawyer vine. Similarly rock-hopping up the creek, it was tricky at the waterfalls and a way out of the creek was very hard to find due to thick undergrowth. It was better to stick to the Joyner's ridge / England creek / Lawton road circuit - a bit tedious but well-maintained.
