Great views, good workout.
Would be hard yakka in summer! (Since yakka is a Juggera word is possible people have thought it was hard yakka for quite a few thousand years :)
Some tips
I highly, highly recommend downloading the gpx from this page (download the OSMand app and then download the qld layer to open it off-line if your phone can't open it). I used the map a fair bit as the trail you want is not always super clear.
It would be super dodgy in the wet.
The GPX trail has you walking across a rock slab with a drop off just after the saddle. There's no need to cross if you're worried, you can backtrack and go around it.
It's easy to miss the steep vert on the ascent, the path continues past it as a majority of people make the same mistake.
Very steep start, so not ideal for a beginner or the unfit. I went clockwise as suggested, would highly recommend that direction.
You definitely want good hiking boots. I also wouldn't wear shorts (I rarely do while hiking, but the paths are really not clear).
If you have poles, take them, they helped a lot on the way up as there's a lot of loose rocks, and they helped my knees and sense of safety a whole lot on the way down as always. A good walk, the last few km of downhill road give you an appreciation for how much vertical you did at the start.

The Waterfall Gorge route would be a really bad idea in wet weather. Actually the whole thing would be tricky in the wet.
If you are having to do vertical climbing in the gorge, go back a little, you missed a trail on the left.
A lot of rock hopping, so not ideal for a beginner

If you have poles, take them, they helped my knees a whole lot on the way down Palm Gorge, but were useful everywhere... except that vertical bouldering bit because i didn't see the path on the left at the waterfalls.
The clear slab is the better view, trees at the top.
