Mount Baldy and Yabi Mountain (Far North Queensland)
4 Nov, 2021
8.6km return
2.5 hrs
Awesome walk, some good steep sections you should be prepared for but nothing too difficult if you take your time and enjoy the experience. Plenty of wild flowers and a very rewarding view from the summit. There is the option of trekking across to Mt Yabi and doing the full loop we decided to go back down the way we came and enjoyed it equally.
Lake Eacham (Crater Lakes National Park)
20 Sep, 2021
3.2km return
75 mins
Lovely early morning walk. Abundant bird life which you can hear through out the easy 3km walk.
There were some early morning swimmers in the lake was was great to see. Just a lovely place and well looked after. Big thumbs up.
Lake Barrine (Crater Lakes National Park)
20 Sep, 2021
4.8km return
105 mins
Another very nice walk. An easy 5km around the lake and some Tea Rooms if you desire some refreshment when you finish. Lots of bird life and suggest early morning as the best time.
Piccabeen Circuit (Mapleton National Park)
16 Mar, 2021
6.9km return
2 hrs
A very pleasant walk. This walk is a circuit with several crossings of the Gheerulla creek meaning also what goes down must come up! Not too steep but still to be taken into consideration. Plenty of tall timber and lots of bird life if you take the time and quietly observe.
Ebor Falls (Guy Fawkes River National Park)
16 Jan, 2021
3.1km return
1 hr
Walked from the nearby Sport and Recreation grounds to the bottom parking area. Unfortunatly the track to the Valley lookout was closed as was the Lower Falls viewing Platform due to the fires of last year and saftey. The track leading back to the main falls still allowed for spectacular viewsof the valley and the falls so it is very much highly recomended. Easy walk some some small grades.
Point Lookout (New England National Park)
16 Jan, 2021
500m return
15 mins
An awesome easy walk with excellent views from the lookouts. Bit of low cloud over the distant mountains but as always spectacular. Highly recommended for families. Gravel road in but well maintained so easy and scenic drive.
Thunderbolts Cave (New South Wales)
12 Jan, 2021
600m return
30 mins
Gravel road once away from the highway leading to a small parking area which has covered picnic seating. The walk down the hill to the cave is rocky with several large tree roots so beware of your footing. The track is marked by white paint on some stones, easy to follow. The cave itself is wonderfull and it is easy to imagine it being a remote hideout for Captain Thunderbolt.
Mt Warning Summit Trail (Wollumbin National Park)
Apr, 2014
8.3km return
5 hrs
Awesome walk and the place to be at sunrise
OVERLAND TRACK, TASMANIA (Cradle Mountain-Lake St Clair National Park)
Mar, 2012
65km one-way
6 days
One of the great classic walks in Australia. It pays to be very well prepared for this walk as weather conditions can change suddenly and cabins are often full. Must do for all keen bush walkers!
