Flinders Peak (Ipswich - Flinders Goolman Conservation Estate)

Ignore the comment from Jozef Keseg - he's trying to flex. This is a tough track; steep, rocky, poorly marked and in some sections quite exposed. I am 47yo, been a rock climber and mountaineer across the European Alps and competitively indoors, since I was 14yo. You will break a sweat, regardless of your fitness level. But it's great, amazing views and satisfyingly rugged.

Really fun hike, packs a lot into 3.5km of ascent. Pretty steep, rough and rocky in places, be careful with foot placement on the descent. Some scrambling needed for about 10 meters up two gullies, about 3/4 of the way up. Amazing views on any reasonably clear day. Fitness will really make a big difference in time. I got up and back in 2hr 10 mins, but I overtook people going much more slowly. 4 hours should cover it.
Standley Chasm (West MacDonnell National Park)

An easy, short, flat walk suitable for young kids or assisted wheelchairs. A simple out and back. Tickets from the kiosk/cafe left of the carpark as you drive in. $30 for a 4 person family. Really interesting slot canyon, with iconic looking Australian scenery. The trees and rocks look stunning. For a quick trip from Alice Springs it's perfect. We drove there, walked, then got back to Alice all in 2 hours.

Great fun with our two kids, we rode the trail rather than walked it. Would be a long slog with kids. Easy enough in cool weather but would be hard in summer with the distance.

Amazing hike, truly spectacular and very evocative of this part of Australia. It's 7.4km including the walk from the car park. The views and setting make this compulsory if you are in the area. Steep up to the col in the gorge, and steep descending from it too. I ran it due to time constraints and did the 7.4km in 50 minutes, but I nearly stacked it several times!
