Route/Trail notes

Walk up the Fern Glade Track then onto Radford's Track, walk through The Springs then onto the Lenah Valley Track.

The Sphinx Lookout is on your right about a km or so along Lenah Valley Track. Return to this track after the lookout and head to Lower Sawmill Track then turn right onto Shoobridge Track. A short distance along here will be The Octopus Tree. Continue on the Shoebridge Track then veer onto the North South Track which will lead you back to The Springs.

There's a few different ways to get back to Fern Tree from here...try the Radford's Track, Reid's Track, Silver Falls Track (then a stop at the falls) before continuing back to Fern Tree via The Pipeline Track.

Comments

Amazing walk through beautiful rainforest around Mt Wellington. The fungi were amazing - so many bright and unusual shapes. A gentle incline up Radford’s Track…Lower Sawmill is pretty steep and rocky but not an issue. The views from Sphinx Rock are terrific and the Octopus Tree is very cool! Going down Reid’s Track is pretty steep and rocky but worth it to see Silver Falls. Just over 8km all up.
