Getting there:

Head to Noosa Heads and at the roundabout on Hastings Street turn right and follow the road to the end. This is a very busy area particularly on weekends and holidays with the parking limited. You may well have to use the parkland car parks at the other end of Hastings Street, which will add about another 2km to get back to the start of the walk.

The alternative is to walk from the southern end at Sunshine Beach. The beach, McAnaly Drive or Parkedge Road all have access points.

Maps:

See maps at the info centre or online at http://www.nprsr.qld.gov.au/parks/noosa/

Route/Trail notes:

Follow the tourist track past the magnificent Tea Tree Bay to Hells Gates. This is a very popular section of coastal walk. From there head down onto Alexandria Bay Beach. Beware. This beautiful beach is frequented by some not so beautiful people, who dislike clothes. Avert your eyes and head to the south end of the beach. Then follow the un-kept track up the hill towards the headland. Keep going along the ridge, then down the hill onto the very long Sunshine Beach. Stroll on south for about 1km until you reach the Life Saving Tower. Then head up the hill to the Surf Club for a well deserved beer.

After a nice lunch catch the courtesy bus back to Noosa.

Permits/Costs:

No permits required; camping not allowed.

Comments:

Watch out for the children at Hells Gates, as there is no cliff barrier and a 10m vertical drop.

Comments

Very busy as I went on a Saturday, also parking at the Noosa national Park end is at a premium most days, but the walk is well worth the challenge.

I LOVE winter in Queensland 🌞🌈
And what an absolutely spectacular day we had today hiking the Noosa Heads Coastal Hike 👣

Noosa National Park is a pretty massive 4000 hectares 🌊🍃 With steep cliffs, sparkling turquoise water, tucked away coves, bushland, wildlife and if you are lucky enough dolphins and whale's 🐬🐳 with spot's to stop and have a swim along the way 👙🩳 this one should definitely be put on your bucket list ✅

Today we started from Parkedge Road at Sunshine Beach making just over a 10km circuit 🥾

From here you will make your way down onto Sunshine Beach following the spectacular coastline and passing spots such as Hells Gate (which is a Sandstone cave carved out by pounding waves where the deep valley of the Gates sit on the edge of a headland), Picnic Cove, Tea Tree Bay and Dolphin Bay 🐬 just to name a few.

We enjoyed some rock hopping down to the Fairy Pool's where we were greeted with crystal clear water and some stunning view's out towards Fraser Island 🐟🐠

The track's are easy to follow with fantastic signage the whole way through ↗️
With 5 track's in the park on offer, we do believe there is something for absolutely everyone 🚶‍♀️🚶‍♂️

Enjoy 🙏💕

Gorgeous! We came back via one of the inland trails, much quieter and a nice variation.

Scenic beauty galore. Added bonus this time: sunset view from the Noosa parking area.

Pretty walk but very busy. Some of the other trails in the NP are far less congested but still lovely views

Walked the trail from bottom and top. Refreshing skinny dip (!!) at Alexandria Beach before getting to Hells Gates. Well worth the walk and amazing in the summer time.
