Route/Trail notes

Starting from the trailhead at the Blackbean Day Use Area, follow the main track straight ahead until it makes a hairpin left turn at a giant Sydney blue gum. At the next signed intersection, turn right down the stairs to commence the Palm Creek Circuit in an anti-clockwise direction. About half-way around the loop there is a short out & back side-track to The Caves (more stairs here).

Continue along Palm Creek Circuit until you reach the next interstion. Head left to complete the circuit and return to the carpark, or turn right to extend your walk with a longer out & back side-track to Buaraba Creek.

Lovely cool walk

Nice contrast to the Rainforest Circuit, with lots of picabeen palms, native ginger and some eucalypt forest. Not veryshady - nicer in cool weather. Saw two goannas today. The caves side-track is worth the extra short walk. My kids were not fans of this walk (it's a bit of a slog in hot weather).

Really loved this one

Walked the Buaraba Creek track and both circuits today. It was already quite hot at 10am when we started our trip back up the hill so glad we didn’t leave it until later in the year. Very little water in the creek just a trickle but nice day.

Completed this one with the Buaraba Creek Trail, Sandstone Overhang & Rainforest Circuits. Ended up being 8.5km in total. A lovely place to hike & a good track.

Easy walk through the nice cool rainforest on a hot summer day. Combined this walk with the Rainforest circuit and Buaraba Creek walk to make one big circuit.

If travelling from Brisbane and using GPS, beware that Seventeen Mile Rd is unsealed and only suitable for 4WD (lots of corrugation and pot holes) best to go via Esk.

Combine this walk with the other walks in the park for a very enjoyable time. A huge variety of plants, trees and a few animals around.
