Bluff Lookout Circuit (White Rock-Spring Mountain Conservation Estate)

Ipswich

A short walk to a lookout on a sandstone bluff. Tree top views over Six Mile Creek and the conservation area.

Getting there

Turn East onto Redbank Plains Rd from the Cunningham Hwy. Turn right onto School Rd and drive South until you reach the Paperbark Flats Picnic Area. The final part of the road is unsealed but in very good condition. Ignore the horse float parking area on your left and proceed to the Paperbark Flats Picnic Area carpark.

Track Details

Follow the main walking track on the far side of the picnic area. At the first signpost turn right onto the Six Mile Creek Boardwalk track. Shortly after turn right again and follow the track up to the top of a rocky outcrop. There are two lookouts. The first is next to a signpost and has a railing. The second is reached by following the path directly behind the signpost to the top of a second, higher rock. Neither climb is taxing (the're both about 10m long!), but the gradient knocks it into the "Medium" category.

Neither lookout provides magnificent views, but it at least gets you up to the tree tops for a different view of the forest.

Very easy walk, but worthwhile. Great view of surrounding area and had a close up experience with a hawk while on top of the rock.

A nice short walk to take my 2yo daughter on. Nothing particularly special but at least she got to go for a bushwalk!
