Getting there

Coobby Dam is one of Toowoomba's water supplies. There are 2 day use areas - Loveday Cove and Cooby Dam Wall. The turnoff to Cooby Dam is between Highfields and Meringandan. Loveday Cove has a boat ramp and a large picnic ground and there are a number of picnic areas at the Cooby Dam Wall.

Route/Trail notes

This walk can be commenced at either end, but you will need to walk back along the same track to get back to your car. There seems to be some track maintenance happening at the moment with some freshly graded areas. There are a couple of moderate climbs and be sure to wear a hat as there is not a lot of tree cover. The walk runs above the high water line, and at the moment is a long way above the current water line.

Permits and Fees

There used to be a fee to access Loveday Cove via a boom gate, but the gate has been open for quite a while now and payment is no longer required.

We did this walk from Loveday Cove and back. It was 10km and 2hr 11min from the main car park. The dam is very low at the moment - we remember visiting when the water was lapping over the spillway!
