Bauraba Creek

Queensland

This walk travels down hill to Bauraba Creek, Ravensbourne National Park. Bauraba Creek is a small stream with Piccabeen Palms over the other side. It is spring fed, so there really isn't much water.

Getting there

  1. From Toowoomba drive north along the New England Highway to Hampton.
  2. Then turn right onto the Hampton-Esk Rd.
  3. Travel along this road for about 17km before turning left at the sign to the national park.
  4. The walk starts at the first day use area.

Comments

Made this walk as part of a circuit with the Rainforest and Palm Creek circuits. Relatively easy with some steps that some people might find challenging. There wasn't much water but still a really pretty creek and nice spot to stop and take a break.

Word of warning, if travelling from Brisbane and using GPS, it may want you to go along Seventeen Mile Rd. This is an unsealed road that is only suitable for 4WD - lots of corrugation and pot holes. Best to go via Esk

A well marked and easy to follow trail that leads you down gradually to a little stream. There are places to sit by the stream and enjoy the sights and sounds of nature. I did find three very curious drawings on a cliff face and have uploaded the pictures, I'd love to know more about them especially if they are true aboriginal in origin and not just drawn by someone at random.

We walked down to the creek and then back taking all side tracks and circuits. It would have been better to do this walk in the reverse though I think. There were quite a few stairs. You are walking up hill most of the way back.
