Lake Matheson

Route/Trail notes:

From the car park, the signposted track passes the cafe and souvenir shop and head out towards the lake. You then cross a suspension bridge and before long, the track forks. Take the left hand track that winds through the ancient forest until you reach the Jetty and its lookout.

Continue on to the far end of the lake and the View of Views Lookout, before returning along the far side of the lake and snakes through the forest back to your starting point.

Permits/Costs:

None.

Other References/Comments:

As with most South Island towns, there are always numerous tracks in and around the area. In this case most notably Fox Glacier Valley Walk and Mount Fox Track.

Comments
