| Yesterday was the perfect day for this hike. We went a bit last minute so started around 12:30pm, but this was nice as a lot of the Saturday morning hikers were finishing up. With fewer people on the track we saw lots of wildlife: a goanna, pairs of king parrots, and a couple of rock wallabies. Keep your eye out for blooming orchids, we spotted one, but more look to be on their way. The tea tree 2/3rds of the way up may start to bloom in the next month too. It was surprisingly warm for this time of year, and parts of the walk are exposed so you can feel the heat. Bring plenty of water and dress accordingly. Also be prepared for how eroded the track is in places as this makes it extra slippery coming down. There is a small bit of scrambling to get to the top, but there are lots of handholds/footholds. Follow the arrows, especially near the last set of steep rocks (this is where you'll scramble up). |
