We conquered Mt Maroon rock scramble/ climb. Elevation 966mts. 6km return. Mainly rock scrambling/ climbing to the summit. I'd class it grade 5: hard. As there is no clear hiking track. We just followed previous comments of the yellow triangle markers and previous hiker foot prints. There were few signs, letter markings and worn out orange paint to help navigate the route.
We followed the open hill track just past the dam and through a gate. Then up a clear dirt track that leads up a steep hill.

The track leads to a steep rocky hill climb and then a steep boulder scramble. This took us about an hour to reach the plateau where we veered right to start the steep descent into the gully. This offered some spectacular views of the cliffs and surroundings.
We came to the bottom of the gorge where we saw a danger sign indicating the no stopping/ lingering zone. We then turned towards the left and started the steep rock climb up the gully. From here it took us about 20 mins to reach the saddle or camping zone.

We turned right and followed the track leading through a small area of vegetation before emerging at the base of the main, bald peak. With some more rock scrambling/climbing up the bald peak. We navigated it by the worn orange paint markings and yellow arrows on rocks. We made our way up to the peak to the large cairn at the top and enjoy the 360 degree views. Taking approx 2.5 hours.

What an amazing place at the top. We were the only ones up there and enjoyed a yummy packed lunch. It took approximately 2hrs back down. Navigating by white spray paint markings and previous memory of the journey.
