The Northbrook River Trail (Northbrook Gorges) (Brisbane Forest park D'Aguilar National Park)
24 Jan, 2026
Medium

We did thus with our 5 year old and had the best time. We brought along a little board so we could float him along the swim sections, which made it a lot easier. You don't have to swim far but it is very deep. We saw a bunch of families there who just set up for a picnic and a swim at the first water holes where you didn't have to swim across to keep going upstream. We saw a snake at lunch time too, despite it being a busy day.The notes to find the trail start were helpful: straight across the hairpin bend.
Mt Tomaree (New South Wales)

Pulls above its weight for the length of this hike. Stunning scenery and some interesting aspects to the walk with the floating pathways and stairs up the side of the rocky mountainside. Only took us about an hour with 5 eager boys racing ahead.

We were hoping to do Mt Cordeaux, but with the carpark closed we had to park down the road by this track. Our 5 year old loved the rocky creek crossings (currently dry) and the hike was pretty easy for the little legs being mostly flat. You could definitely tack on mt cordeaux if you had the time, this adds an extra 5km flat loop to the bottom. We just added on the little forest loop at the base of the mountain so we could at least see a lookout view
Natural Bridge (Springbrook National Park)

Quite the rainy weekend, seemed to keep most people away. But with the path all sealed it was great. Our 4yr old was stoked to be out in his gumboots and jacket, and very impressive waterfall after so much rain
Tibrogargan Circuit (Glass House Mountains National Park)

We had 4 families (6 kids aged 4,3,2) and took us 2hrs 20 with toddler paced strolling, numerous snack breaks a nappy change and a few meltdowns, but we made it and had some stellar moments amongst the chaos. The forest is lovely to walk through and it's nice to see a few vantage points to spot some of the mountains in the distance
