Steamy walk up - busy on the long weekend. View was worth it but the insects at the summit of Yellowpinch shortened the stay.

Took this hike as a warm up before heading to the lower portals. Excellent view of Mt Barney.

Quick trip up here with my 11yo son. Great views as always. Kid is starting to handle the climbs easier than me!

Richard Mason on 12 Aug, 2023

Did this walk with our 5yo. Lots of loose rock near the top, so can be tricky if you're not steady on your feet but our son handled it well. Some steep drops, so supervision required.

Ashilleong on 29 Dec, 2020

Tough walk at the beginning the incline is quite steep, but the view of Mount Barney was worth it!

Better to start early as in the afternoon the sun is on the Mount so it's not as good for photos.

Wandering Brauns on 24 Sep, 2020

Small walk gets the blood pumping on the way up but not drastic great views and photos.

Short, uphill hike to some amazing views of Mt Barney, Mt Lindsay and beyond. Quite strenuous towards the top but so worth it and being only a short walk, quite accessible for everyone.

10 minutes up, 5 minutes back

Nice easy walk. It is uphill for most of the way and gets strenuous towards the end. Amazing views of Mount Barney , Mount Lindesay and Mount Ernest. Best views of Barney for very little effort. Can be done with kids although need to be supervised up top as sheer drop off.

A new track was being created when we visited so you will no longer have to walk up the fire track. Fantastic view of Mount Barney and Lindsay.

Nice little easy walk my son is 7 and ran up this one nice views

Shara on 8 Apr, 2018

Excellent walk, slightly steep towards the end. Fantastic views at the summit.

Short but steep walk with nice views from the summit. Have uploaded photos of the two gates. The first gate is near car park & the second is further up a trail wide enough for vehicles. At the second gate the path veers to the right & narrows. Would be nice in conjunction with Lower Portals during cooler weather.

Hard walk because I am unfit. Inspired to get fit and do more hiking.

Forbesy on 21 Jan, 2017

Great walk with awesome views. Bit sloppy at times so need to watch your feet.

Linda363 on 28 Sep, 2016

Maybe 45min return. Great view of Barney at the top (and cell service). Nice to stretch the legs.

CassLee on 23 Feb, 2016

Nice walk! Good way to warm up for a weekend of climbing. As soon as we saw Barney from this view we had to conquer it!

A short sweet climb

Michael Richards on Aug, 2015

Nice little leg stretcher. Went over the top and down the north side to the creek. Then rock hopped downstream and found a great swimming hole. Excited via a farm back on to the yellowpinch road.

WorldWalker on 19 Jun, 2012

Great views of Mount Barney and Mount Lindesay and surrounding massifs.
