Quite steep but concrete all the way. Amazing 360° views of the Glass House Mountains to the west and Bribie Island and the coastal strip to the east. Lots of information on what you are looking at and a great place for a picnic.

Getting there:

A distinctive landmark (fire watch tower) on the eastern side of the Bruce Highway. From the south, take the exit next to the Service Station and turn right to cross over the Bruce Highway before turning right again and following the sign to the car park.

Well signposted from the north.

Wild Horse Mountain

Route/Trail notes:

700mt and quite steep. The quickest we have done this is in 7mins 56sec up and 4mins 23sec down. Concrete the whole way. If you are looking for something else, from the bottom of the car park, turn right and head along the forest trail for a couple of minutes and you can follow a bush track up the side of the mountain. This track only takes you halfway up though.

Short and steep, only 700 metres to the fire lookout. Close to the highway, well straight off it so easy to do if your driving from the Sunshine Coast towards Brisbane just to stretch your legs. What would be amazing views on a clear day of the Glasshouse Mountains with a plethora of infomation including boards showing you the who’s who of Glasshouse.

Paved almost the whole way. Not as steep as Beerburrum, but still a great calf workout that takes 20-30 mins return for the average person. Brilliant views as mentioned by everybody else. Not a lot else for me to add.

Steep walk up a paved road to the summit. Took about 20 mins return.

Great view from the top, not a bad walk.

Darren on 9 Sep, 2018

not as bad as we thought going up, it is steep but there is plenty to see and quite a few birds around we saw several rainbow bee eaters along the way. The obversation area is great for photos on a clear day you can see for miles, highly recommend it.

Super easy walk up a concreted path. Fire watch tower at the top with perfect views of the glasshouse mountains - especially at sunset!

Brilliant views of glasshouse mountains - A short but very steep 10min walk up a road to a fantastic 360 degree view of the mounatins and surrounds. Beautiful at sunset, very busy then also

For some crazy reason we did this walk in the middle of the day, when it was forecast to reach 37°C. The 360° views are amazing, and we had a cool breeze when we reached the top.

Nice afternoon walk. Completely paved from entrance to the top. Great 360 degree views, informative panels to help you interpret what you’re seeing. Definitely taking visitors here.

This was #1 of a 6 peaks in one day challenge I did with my daughter, daughter-in-law, and 12yr old granddaughter. An easy short walk with spectacular 360 degree view.

Good for a stopover/stretch on a long drive. Concreted pathway is steep but doable for most people. Great views at the top. Service station is nearby for refreshments before or afterwards.

Straight uphill on a bitumen road. Plenty of parking. Pretty good view. Worth the detour.
