Walk through allocasuarina and paperbark forests. Take a 400m side track to Mill Point and follow the self-guided historical walk to the site of a timber mill township that flourished from 1872 to 1892.

Getting there:

Head to Boreen Point along McKinnon Drive, turning right into Louis Bazzo Drive. As you enter Boreen Point, the road takes a sharp right into Laguna Street, but turn left into Lake Flat Road and follow this for 2km and on a left hand bend, you will see the gravel road into Habitat Noosa on your right. The public car park is on the right just before the private campsite, where all the walks start.

Route/Trail notes:

The walk start across the gravel road from the car park and is well signed, mostly on mown tracks and fire trails. From the start, the tracks circumnavigates the campground, before taking a left out to the chimney remnants of the farmhouse dairy. From here a 400m walk takes you to Mill Point.  Return to the chimney and turn left, back towards the campground. As you reach the campsite, a signed track to the right will take you back to the start.

Have your swimmers and a towel handy, as following the short track at the back of the car park will get you to a sanded area beside Lake Cootharaba.

Camping at the revitalised Habitat Noosa, this was an obvious starting point for a few walks in the area. With the lush grassed forest area, this is a kangaroo heaven; I have never seen such huge Eastern Greys in my life.

Very easy walk but do remember to take mosquito repellent with you, even in winter.
